  2. Sias I thought that was all part of the entry fee But on a slightly more serious note guys, what would the bottom line be even on a secondhand bike here, it is for a lady as well? Lets say.. what would be the least spec needed to complete THE BEAST?
  3. Hi Everyone A friend of mine is wanting to do the epic and asked me for some advice on bike choice and so on I would imagine a person who would be on the bike for a relatively long day would be best suited to a soft tail? What would an entry level but reliable to finish setup set one back? Spartikus2010-05-04 02:06:32
  4. Shot Soutie Email sent
  5. TRUE thanks for the advice

  7. I have a single bed!!!!
  8. Hi Everyone In our search for pilots for Ride For SIGHT Clint generously offered to ride with me and Ricky offered us his bike to use on the day. Is there anyone out there who would possibly like to sponsor us 2 sets of kit and I believe there will be some media coverage after the race and we would be happy to give your company a punt Please let me know Gavin
  9. CGC awards evening was GREAT It was nice to attend an event and be rcognised for all those who achieved great resuts over the past year. There is nothing better then being handed a troffee or certifiate in front of a big group of peers to show off your hard work Unfortunately as we all know by now the attendance was SHOCKING to say the least, SPECIALLY from the icons of our sport. The guys and gals that the youbnsgsters look up to as hero's and mentors I beleive all these people and the clubs were notified about the evening but from my experience of how the invites were sent out i would not have gone from reading my club newsletter. A personal invite should have been exended to each person nominated for an award in due time for the candidates to make arrangements to be there Sure it was Crater Cruise but this is typically a mountain bike event and more than HALF the awards were taken back to the CGC office because people were not aware they were recieving something WHAT DO PEOPLE PAY CLUB FEES FOR????
  10. Has a can of worms or WHOOP ASS been opened
  11. Our awesome sport is in enough trouble as it is so really hope its not to serious because if not the big neames can take away all our fun
  12. I can recomend a pretty solid solution that covers insurance as well as identification of your bike A RAVX product endorsed by cyclesure, call Kelly at ALL Business Risk o <?: PREFIX = SKYPE /> 011 425 6170 . I am sure she will be able to offer you something really good
  13. So are there any of the 28 YES votes going to buy the product???? cycling@recoveri.net
  14. I am pleased to see there has been a positive response to the poll so far
  15. The idea is also to dot your bike, TV etc with a few dots in different places i,e seat, frame, bars, cranks and wheels so each part is market. there are 3000 dots in a bottle so you can go crazy if you like. A nice feature is if you sell the bike, the net guy registers a new profile on the site and that bike goes to his asset register.
  16. There is that possibility but i personally think a bike is more valuable all pieces present and accounted for!!!!
  17. Second Hand stores is a good point and the powerss that be are looking into it as I believe the LARGER ones can make use of it for a start and as the concept catches on it will expand It really is a small prie to pay R199 to atleast have the chance of getting it back more so for those who dont have insurance and secondly for the insurance company t recover some kind of cost for the replacements that they are paying for
  18. The idea has been put forward to the insurance companies, some car insurances have picked up the concept and now it is getting exposed to household and cycling insurance!!!!
  19. Firstly tje dot is almost invisable to the naked eye so weighs nothing, secondly the adhesive paint used in the solution to put it on the bike does not let any other solution bond to it As far as WHO KNOWS ABOUT THIS?!?!?!?!? The police have a procedure to follow and the equiment to check for the mcro dots i.e microscopes and UV lights Obviuosly f you dont mark it on the site that it is stolen they wont know, there are also guys who work for recoveri that go to ALL 13th stores at police stations and look for the goods market with dots. We also are in negotiation with ALL bike stores to carry the equipment needed to check for dots.
  20. The dot is aimed more towards the cycling community itself so if a bike is stolen and is taken to a bike shop to be recirculated into the market it will be picked up as the bike shops are getting on board with the concept AND reciveri themselves have guys who go to the 13 store on a weekly basis with the UV lights and micro scopes (sniffer dogs) and the dot is used on all your household items so it does not only benifit in one area.
  21. In light of the recent bikejacking, marking your bike witht he micro dot is discrete and unique to each individual so if it is found the chance of you getting it back is much greater especially to those who do not have insurance on their equipment and we ALL know the value of our equipmet!!! Email cycling@recoveri.net Or check out www.recoveri.net Spartikus2008-10-13 03:03:18
  22. !!!cycling@recoveri.net!!!
  23. Well I have been working with a campany recently since I returned from China and they have a really good concept that I think will work really well if there are a few people who would be interested in listening to the idea. Emai me on cycling@recoveri.net
  24. There is a microtag solution that i have put onto my bike for identification purposes, it is also registered into an international database for free. Great affordable concept. Check it out on www.recoveri.net
  25. Thats the benifit of this, it is all done from your PC once you have the product on whatever you decide to put it on, if it is stolen you mark it on the site as a hot dot and it is linked to the police as well as fbi world wide and REVOVERI itself has guys who identify the goods at the police stations, they go around to all the stations and check, if it is found they contact you to identify and collect.
