Hey guys for the third year in a row I've done myself in by enterring for the argus and only training three weeks before the event, resulting in a considerable amount of pain on the day! This year I have the option of using a schwinn voyageur hybrid instead of my road bike. I've never ridden the schwinn but if my understanding is correct it is a whole lot more comfortable to ride. My concern would be maintaining a decent speed on the straights? any opinions? Thanks!

sorry, "wind", and i mean i managed to scrape in just before teh cutoff! still suffering effects of panic attack!

WHen I heard the news I had a panic attack, a fresh south easterly wing forecast for Sunday 8 March 2009! Last year was my first argus and conditions were perfect, I still managed only to scrape in past the cut off! How badly will this affect my ride this year, Ive trained a bit harder but am still very concerned. Also, if the wind is still blowing after Ive reached the top of smitswinkel will it blow me all the way over Chappies or will I be fighting it for the full 108.99 kms! Any tips appreciated...

Guys, just got a call from Chris Willemse Snr. who explained the situation to me. CWC online and Chris willemse Cycles are two distinct entities. However, because of confusion, the arrangement is that customers who went to the store on the basis of something advertised on the website would be given the item at the website price. So I guess you guys are right, call/ mail Chris Jr. to avoid confusion. Thanks and thanks to Chris Willemse Snr for clarifying the issue.

Guys, I had no idea that chris willemse cycles and cwc online are two independant businesses, especially since under "contact us" on the website they give the physical address of the store in Tygervalley. Is this common knowledge? the reason for asking this is that on saturday morning i travelled some thirty kilometers looking for an entry level road bike wheelset knowing that cwc online advertise the shimano wh500 for R800-00. I was shown the wheelset by the assistant who then conferred with another guy on the price and I was told the set was R1200-00. I then said the website advertised it for R800-00 and was told that i would have to buy directly through the website because they weren't one and the same and that he didn't know what prices Chris Jr. advertises at. Needless to say I did not buy the wheelset and although I now accept that cwc online and chris willemse cycles are two separate entities I do feel a bit misled by the website. perhaps the guys running the site could clear this up to avoid future confusion?

I use second hand shoes that are two sizes too big for me so to make them fit and avoid contact with blister secretions I wear two pairs of Hiking Socks

But both are absorbent (and socks ae thicker!)
