  1. They moved up to Pretoria just over a year ago, so I spose it was somewhere around PTA.
  2. Estelle is still FAR from fully recovered. Her hand has only just been operated on. Gerhard and Estelle were SUCH a lovely couple. They were SO happy together despite some really tough things they've had to endure together. I feel breathless I am so sad!
  3. My friend Gerhard de Bruin (Millenium Flooring), who's wife Estelle had a near fatal cycling accident six months ago, has just passed away as a result of severe head injuries sustained this morning. He and a large group were out on a training ride. A motorist overtook another vehicle, and hit Gerhard and another lady cyclist HEAD-ON! His wife, who was following by car, was first on the scene. PLEASE take care of yourselves. Tell your family and friends how much you love them. Often. You never know when your time is up. God Bless you Estelle. My heart is broken for you. All my love. Sue

  16. LOL. He has to keep the 'drop-tested' one for training, and this one for racing. I think he'll have cardiac arrest if he puts a scratch on this baby! He took it for a test spin and came home in a state of near euphoria! Shampies. It's good for his ole mum's heart!

  21. 4 star. Very upmarket, luxury, self catering accomodation still available in Hout Bay. (Easy to drive or ride to the start from that side of the coast). DSTV etc etc. R750 per unit per day (sleeps 4 so only R190 odd pppn). Close to the beach and beautiful mountain and sea views as well. Sounds pretty reasonable to me! Phone Lorraine 078-3679558 Sorry. Should've posted this under Chit-Chat. Dunno how to move it or delete it.Pickles2009-02-26 04:16:18
  22. The manager of The Cycle Lab Cape Town Junior Academy has the balls. He has already reported the incident to the various bodies.
  23. Thank you all for your advice on dressings etc and for all your wishes for a speedy recovery. Mathew is pretty beaten up, but he will survive to race another day! His confidence is pretty shaken, which is the saddest thing as he is scheduled to start in A group in the Argus (only his 2nd attempt after finishing 2nd in M group on his 1st attempt). He is going to have to dig very deep to go with those boys. You need steel balls up there, and this little incident has sadly (probably) scared him off somewhat. His club, Cycle Lab Supercycling, have been fabulous and VERY supportive. I thank them for that and couldn't think of a better 'home' for South Africa's young riders to learn the ropes. Once again, thanks.
