Spare parts for example the elastic chest strap (which perishes from sweat) and the plastic watch strap (which I KNEW would break when I bought it- I even told the salesman it was going to happen - He shrugged his shoulders), are extremely expensive. I also find the pick-up OFTEN does not work even though I wash, rinse etc etc religeously according to their instructions.

Oh, ok. I'm glad it wasn't more serious. I'm VERY weary of drivers opening their doors on that road. Try to ride in the middle of that road for a short stretch until it starts up that little hill out of Camps Bay towards Sea Point. Thanks for the info.

I've just heard on the news that a cyclist has been knocked down at the Pick n Pay in Camps Bay. Does anyone know if he/she is okay? BTW, if it happened at the robot, that particular robot is a favourite/notorious one that cyclists "jump" ALL the time! I'm not saying this person jumped the robot.

That's just their superstitious sh*t! WTF have we got living in South Africa?

It's no point getting into these tired old, pointless "for and against" Hub rants over this murder. The bottom line is that Eugene Terreblanche was a MONUMENTAL f**k-up! But THIS murder is going to cause HUGE trouble in South Africa. This could not have happened at a worse time. What with Julia-aas's latest rantings and singing of, "kill the boer". Remember, there are WAY more uninformed, impressionable, stupid people (both black and white) than there are intelligent ones in this country. We, intelligent people will certainly behave rationally. Geez! You sound bitter and twisted. Did someone nick your sweeties? It is very very hard to win any age category in cycling. So, if the succesful boys are acknowledged, so should the girls be acknowledged! Who cares who provides their equipment? That is not the point here! The child's performance, and the (lack of) acknowledgement thereof that is under scrutiny here. By the way, just about EVERY spare cent I have, I spend on my son's equipment (and his extra maths etc etc). He is passionate about this sport, and I'd rather have him doing well at THIS than trawling the malls and getting p**sed or high for entertainment. I know exactly where he is at night. Fast asleep, thoroughly exhausted! From racing the bike that costs me an arm and a leg!

From what I can gather, it was a woman driving. She hit them head-on whilst overtaking (obviously on the right hand side of the road). The bottom line is that SPEED and IMPATIENCE and INTOLERANCE were more than likely involved. She has to live with herself for the rest of her life, and no punishment will bring Gerhard back. She'd better pray that the other cyclist, who is critical, pulls through.
