  1. Thanks!
  2. Much appreciated!
  3. Thank you! How do I reach Waseem?
  4. I made that name when I thought that's what I wanted, but then I tried that road bike and it felt amazing. So smooth and fast and comfy. Generally speaking though, anywhere I can make a start would be good
  5. Thank you! This actually looks quite promising!!
  6. Thank you! Any suggestions for road groups? Want to try all of the options!
  7. Hi all, I have probably been watching this community (the cycling community as a whole in CPT) for a year now. I would love to become apart of it and make new friends. Can’t imagine a better hobby/lifestyle to pick up. I am tired of vicariously living through all of the super cool instagram posts. I don’t have a bike and when I went to a bike shop there was a bike for me, a liv avail (48), but it was so expensive. Where do I go to meet people, make friends, grow into this community? I am in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. Basically cycling utopia. How can I get into this without a bike? Where do you all meet up? Can I rent a bike and join a ride? Thank you!! - From a 27 year old wanting so desperately to go zoomies and make new friends x
  8. Oh, great spot! I saw someone post on the mywhoosh subreddit that they are using a Magene MG70!
  9. I don't own currently own a bike as I will be too busy to actually leave the house and go for a ride. Thanks for the app recommendation!
  10. Hi, I want to make a spin bike setup with the added fun of using MyWhoosh (Zwift alternative). I don't want to pay a fortune for a smart bike. Ideally I want the spin bike to cost under R10k, and then my understanding is I will need bluetooth and a power meter. Anyone have any experience with this? If not, just some spin bike recommendations would be excellent! Thanks x
  11. Well... I got on, and I thought to myself I've never felt something stick to the road like this before, and what came after was zoomies 🤣 so I think I'm on the right track
  12. Yeah I tried the avail at the bike shop, it was pretty much perfect for me. So that's what I'm aiming for now!
  13. Thank you, I know a little more now about what to look for so I save all of these as they pop up
  14. I tried out a size 48 liv avail at the bike shop... it was sooo comfortable and suited me perfectly. They have it for around R13k, a new one. I think that's what I'm aiming for now! 😁
  15. First things first... padded shorts!! I had a mountain bike for a very short time and boy.., those bruises were something else 😂
  16. Ahh okay, great that makes a lot of sense. Thanks!
  17. Definitely going to be a bit more patient up the budget! Can I ask, what do you think about the Liv Avail vs. the Merida Scultura Juliet? They don't make it easy to know what the difference is between certain bikes and bike types etc.
  18. That's what the man at the shop advised us... seems like a more expensive hobby to get into
  19. I've saved that one! Can you explain to me what the deal is with the 105 and what's wrong with the saddle? Thanks
  20. Hi all, My partner and I want to get into road cycling. After a visit to a bike shop yesterday and trying out a couple of bikes, we’ve determined size 48 and 50 will do. Getting on a road bike felt SO good. We can’t wait to start. I’ve been looking at Bikehub daily like a madman and thought maybe a forum post could help. If anyone can assist with the following: Size: 48 & 50 road bikes Budget: R5000 - R7000 (this might change as we put more money towards it over time) Location: Western Cape, so we can try before we buy … and any general advice, what brands, what bikes, etc. thanks!!
  21. I know this sounds silly but I am looking at a helmet that starts at 54cm that’s within my budget but my head is 53cm. Will I be able to get by once I’m strapped in or is this a bad idea and I should look for a junior helmet instead? New to MTB, please be kind
