  1. I started riding and racing in 1984. Nothing has changed - riders continue to cross the white line and pay the price. It is very simple - don't cross the white line and you will be fine. Use your bike handling skills to move to the front of the bunch, however everyone takes the easy route by passing riders on the right hand side of the road by crossing the line. Don't blame the think bike marshals. Most of you bitch and moan when they do police the bunch and you are disqualified but when an accident such as this takes place then they are in the firing line. i agree that think bike marshals are required for the junior riders, but as for the rest we are all adults. How difficult is it to obey a simple rule. If the wind changes direction and you are not strong enough then you must drop and start a second pace line. Perhaps you should train harder next time and not just want to draft the stronger riders. This is why when there is gutter riding you guys drop off the back. I have 2 children of my own and can only imagine what they must be going thru at the moment. My thoughts are with his family.
  2. I crashed in January in CT. There was not a single spoke left in the front wheel. I broke my collar bone and scapula. The other rider in the fall was left with a few scars and very littele damage to his bike. I have received the "second edition" mavic R-Sys front wheel but after reading the article posted yesterday don't really want to race on these wheels. MAVIC are refusing to replace my set with an alternative set of wheels untill this case has been investigated in full by MAVIC in France.
