  1. Hi Guys,

Since I started riding more than my usual commute, I've been having some knee problems, especially my left knee. I use Shimano SPDs on both my bikes (Hardtail commuter and FS training/Racing bike).

I live out here in the boonies, so no close by LBS where I can have a fitment done. I have found a great website, and my bikes are set up as close as I think I can get them. Only one thing remains, the cleats. So I was wondering if the Time ATAC pedals are better than the SPDs. If you looks at their advertising blurb, it seems to be the case, with all kinds of float in all directions. Smile

Anyway, some advice will be appreciated. I'd like to go a bit harder, but at this stage my knee is crying blue murder as soon as I try to step up the pace a bit.

You'll see if you find the bike you love it will live inside' date=' and you'll find yourself just touching it everytime you walk past. This is also normalBig%20smile[/quote']

Thank god, it is not just me! I have to show my wife this post ASAP!  Big%20smile

  3. Thanks Slave, I thought it would come to that. Dead

I only need the links, so it seems a waste to pay R300 postage for R40 worth of spares. I guess this gives me an excuse to buy some other stuff I don't really need...

Why don't any SA shops keep these in stock? Seems to me that it is something that will sell well.

  4. Anybody know of a shop that will:

    1) Have 2 or more gold SRAM powerlinks in stock

    2) Willing to post them to me at a reasonable cost

    3) That is all.

    Thanks!

( I had one, and they work very well. Unfortunately I lost half of it, so it is not nearly as effective as it was.)

Yes, I didn't have ammonia (I wrote it on the wifes shopping list Wink)

But I did have some window washing stuff (Windowlene) I hope that will more or less work? I can still hear fluid in the tire though. I also added some fine wood dust. Will it plug a leak? I went for a 10Km ride earlier, but I couldn't find any thorns to test it...

Oh yes, I used the method on your website, works like a bom. Thanks!

  6. Hi,

I was in Pretoria on Saturday, and I thought I'd take my MTB for a spin in Groenkloof N/R, apparently there is a nice 13Km trail there. Anyway, my GPS was convinced it knew where it was, but it turned out it didn't.Cry So instead I went for a drive through UnisaConfused. As a maplotter, I sukkel finding places in the big city.

Can somebody please help my GPS pinpoint (GPS coords would be nice) the actual gate/reception of Groenkloof?

    Thanks!

  7. I used to get pretty severe knee pain, especially while hammering. I moved my cleats outward, feet closer together, and it is much better at the moment. I still get a twinge of pain every once in awhile, so I guess I need to fine tune some more.

Oom' date=' it's the same as take an otherwise intelligent human being, put them on a fast bike and they think the whole of Jhb is Kyalami. And the biggest prob is how these types always stand up for those who do exactly what they do but beeatch and moan when it's the same principle but the specific action is something else - ie the cyclists beeatch about the bikers and the bikers about the taxis and the taxis about the BMWs but end of the day they are all wrong and they are all being selfish and inconsiderate. [/quote']

    Toemaar....

Nie meer lank nie dan is al die petrol opgebruik dan trap al die dom d*$#&$ fiets of loop met die voet.

    Kan nie wag nie........

Coolste post op die Hub. Ek kan ook nie meer wag nie!

  9. My wife and I cycles to work every day. *shrug* We also do 90% of our shopping and social calls on the bikes. We've been going strong for 6 months now. If we can keep it up through the winter (shouldn't be a problem) we're going to sell the car.

We love going to work, and coming back home is even better. :o)

  10. Hi Dick, (and you other guys)

I don't race (competetivelySmile) so I don't care so much about weight. It just seems to me that there is a wider selection of tires available in tubeless than "tubed".  At the moment I even have "tire liners" in (oh the shame) Wink

It makes sense that one can run anything with tubes, I was just worried that the bead might be different or something.

Maybe I'll try the Stans thing though.

    Thanks for the help everybody!
