  1. I'm there for round 2 of me vs the Monster.

Rode the 75km in 5:55 with 30 minutes trying to find the quick link I dropped in the bushes after breaking the chain. Want to do sub 5 hours this year.

  2. CycleLab says that they have them for R8200.00

Not sure if they have in stock or its customisable.

I looked at that - it looks great until you get to the brakes. I can't tie in the part number given to 2012 XT brakes (or any XT brakes for that matter). I phoned the contact number for the online shop but no-one could give me an answer as to what brakes they were and whether rotors were included or not.

In terms of stock, two LBS's have told me that Cool Heat will only be getting their shipment in January. thumbdown.gif

  3. TX for all the replies and comments. Does anyone have an idea what will the price be of a complete XT 2012 groupset? When can we expect LBS’s to have stock? Last question....what would be a better option for a 29er....40/28 or 38/26 (2x10) and an 11-32/34 cassette?

I was quoted about R10 500 for the 2012 XT groupset (excluding pedals and wheels) Apparently there will only be stock end January.

  4. I also have this exact same issue on my XTC 29er at the moment. Still trying to figure out where the problem lies.

Same symptom on my XTC29er, new brake pads sorted the problem (and improved braking performance!)

  5. What is the distance from the speed sensor to the head unit? My Polar is very sensitive to that and even approaching the stated maximum distance gives problems where it doesn't register. Try moving the mount to the same side as the speed sensor (contrary to the instruction leaflet).

  6. This fairy tale does not have a happy ending, yet. By yesterday afternoon (1 August) the bicycle was still not ready for collection. It was delivered late (29 July) and when it arrived, two of the chain ring blades were damaged (bent). LBS still awaiting replacement spares...

But does it fit your wife?

  7. Silver back Atomic is the best value for money, bought two last year for my twins. They ride them every day. no issues. They are bullet proof.

PM me and i can tell you where i bought them.

Ended up buying the Silverback Atomic as well, after looking at the Giant, Avalanche and Titan. (Looked at Scott as well - plain stupid price for a 24" kids bike - around R10Kohmy.gif)

My son is very happy with it - he test rode all of them and made his decision on how the bike felt to ride. I wasn't complaining, the Silverback was the cheapest!

Ended up buying it at Linden Cycles.

  8. Exactly where is the entrance for King Kloof cos I checked it out last week on maps.google and according to their co-ords it's a Farm Stall next to the main road... no where to enter. Seems like you park just next to the main road on a grass patch behind the stall. Is that correct?

I did van Gaalen's in May and really enjoyed it & would like to do KK.

According to their website, you are correct! see Kings Kloof directions
