I'm also doing the race for the first time with this past weekend (USN MTB cup race - Centurion) representing my first greater than 50km ride. So it's good to see the profile and I must add that this seems very hilly! How does this compare to the 40km Sabie Classic from Feb this year? Anycase - looking forward to the event!

Yip you're right - listing price is R2000, but you can always negotiate with a retailer... That said I doubt if any negotiation will get you to the 1.5k as mentioned by some of these guys. Very cool glasses though and worth every sent! Hope you come right with a good price.

Thanks Shamus for the info over the phone - I am now armed with a torque wrench (in case I cranked the clamp too tight) and certainly found the hub community comments of great use.

Tightened the seatpost with a-key 5mm multitool not torque wrench, but consciously steered clear of too tight...

Thanks - appreciate the feedback. I'll stick to the metal seatpost for the time being. Sticking with the weight issue - my racing wheels comprise Stans ZTR rims (29er 32 hole), DT Swiss spokes, American Classic hubs and Schwalbe Racing Ralph tyres - Do you think I these too light for my size?

I have just completed my second ride with my new Ritchey Super Logic seatpost and the thing snapped whilst riding through a rough single track. Is this normal and should a heavy bloke like me (95kg) stay away from the carbon stuff? Views?
