  1. Unfortunately you are very misinformed then. Tour Durban contributed over R80 000 to CSA last year. That is double what was contributed to charity. CSA's business model is and should not be based around the events. The events create a cycling industry from which the national body, CSA, should leverage off with TV rights and sponsorship. It is up to the events to help contribute to CSA, it is not up to the events to fund CSA's operations solely.
  2. Good Day, i am the organizer of the aQuelle Tour Durban. Thanks firstly for the understanding of the majority of riders regarding our date change. Please be assured that it was not a decision taken lightly, and a decision that we unfortunately had no other option to embrace due to the potential safety risk it posed to the riders should we wish to stage the event on the Sunday. "Domestique" and "Champion Hubber", i'd like to clear up your misconceptions from your posts. We most certainly could not stage the event on the same day as the political rally. All roads around the stadium get closed for TDBN, and to try and manage that along with over 40 000 people arriving in buses to the same venue would be a risk to you the rider that i am personally not prepared to adopt. With regards to your comments about informing people who have already entered, i'd like to correct you in that each entrant was sent a personal email, and an sms informing them of the date change, and offering a full refund. What i can assure everyone is the fact that the decision was one that considered all possible options, and the resultant date change to the Monday, while inconvenient to some, was the most convenient option available. Thanks for your understanding, and should you have any more queries, please do not hesitate to contact me personally, stu@impiconceptevents.com
  3. Yes, it is one route, no loops. There are 2 sections of 7km each which are MTB sections.

    Tour Durban?

Hi Cycle88. Thanks for your query...i represent the organizing committee of the aQuelle Tour Durban. If you are looking for any info, please take a look at our website www.tourdurban.co.za - social media wise you can like our facebook page or follow @tourdurban on Twitter for any info. Otherwise we look forward to seeing peoples posts on this topic as to where we can improve and what elements you already enjoy.
  5. Hi Everyone. Thanks for your comments and feedback. Some of you have kindly sent us print screens of the errors your're experiencing, and our IT guys are sorting it out as we speak. With regards to routes, please feel free to mail me directly and i can send you KMZ Google Earth files of the road and MTB routes. They are 95% confirmed. Once 100% confirmed, we'll load these onto the website as well. We have had a 1 day delay on the entries opening up, and they should be live and working come tomorrow 12h00 midday. Thanks for your understanding, and we look forward to staging a great event for all of you in 2012.
  6. Certainly not thsi year. Same sponsors, and more. aQuelle and SPUR, two top companies that are helping us to grow thsi event again, have signed up for 2012 again.
  7. Hi Everyone. Thansk for your comments and queries, and sorry I havent replied earlier. The new Tour Durban website is loaded up and working at www.tourdurban.co.za - make sure if you have tried to log in over the past few weeks that you re-type the address in so no cache takes place. The trouble with the website not going to the actual site has been sorted by our IT guys, apologies for any inconvenience. With regards to the race, we re-established it last year and had just over 2500 riders, and we're looking on builing on that this year. We learnt from our mistakes last year, and comit to make them right. The event takes place from the 27th - 29th April, with the MTB on the morning of Friday 27th (public holiday), the crit that evening, and the road race from moses Mabhida on Sunday. All seeding and entry details and programmeare listed on www.tourdurban.co.za - we're also loading up the entries now to take effect from Thursday morning, or asap before that if possible. The MTB route has been changed by approximately 20%, and in our view, much better. The 105km road ride is now including a section through Westville, and takes out the danger risk area of Umgeni intersection with the N2. Again, FULL ROAD CLOSURE is secured for the event. If there is anything you cant find on the website, please feel free to contact me direct on 0834568435 or stu@impiconceptevents.com - we look forward to hosting all of you.
