  1. How tall are they? What is the weight of those 16" Munn bikes? I'm thinking of skipping 14" for my little one too, she's only 2.5 now but going comfortably on her balance bike and she's quite tall for her age.
  2. I think yours will be much faster due to there not being Covid working restrictions anymore.
  3. He got the invitation yesterday to his ceremony, it's on the 23rd of Feb.
  4. So cool! Going to gift one for Layla on our 1st trip there soon. She can scratch the trails when we completed it. One day (soon) she will be able to go ride them alone. I say "soon" because last week as she was sitting in front of my MTB on our way home from school she said (in her broken sentences) "mamma, pappa, Layla winkel fiets koop" , so I asked for who is the bike, she said for herself. I replied by saying she has a bike, her reply "gros fiets, trap trap briek stop". Gros = big (in French) This holiday I thought her about the brakes on the bicycle and gave her opportunities to use it while upfront on the MTB. She loves the idea of having a big bike, so every time we have been going to a cycle shop (in the last year) she always goes to the bike with the pedals and brakes. She's not ready yet for pedalling I don't think.
  5. Thomas sent his stuff in June. Got his 1st email reply today.
  6. It is quite sad to say that all but 1 does not have suspension, so I will be okay to hang them. Then again, 'soon' there might be a little bike to add to the shed and at this current rate it will have suspension
  7. In the new house we will only have a single garage, going down from a double now. We are already thinking of how we will store everything (mainly bikes x 4, windsurf x 3, bike trailer etc.). What are you guys doing now? We need all bikes to be accessible on a daily basis (because we use different ones during the week) and it needs to be weather proof (=dry). One car will still go into the garage too, so it seems bikes will have to get a shed. I have found these options for some inspiration but keen to know what you guys are doing? Maybe some smart way of getting it all into the garage...
  8. Thursday is better for me too. Back to work only today after a week at Jury service!
  9. If you have kids that like MTBing... I highly recommend you to buy this... Or just buy it for yourself https://kidsrideshotgun.co.nz/products/shred-til-bed
  10. Went to ride at Totara park yesterday, it was pretty nice! We'd be going back definitely. Layla loved it
  11. I'm getting to ride my MTB again Need to be even more fit though..
  12. Where the beer is cheap Look at the specials for the joylab places (I think there is one or 2 places under them there), they typically have nice specials on week day evenings ... [i'm currently all about saving of course ]
  13. Trek Checkpoint, bought in NZ. Edit: why I bought it: Not a carbon frame (carbon fork though) 2x... Gearset Disk brakes Many many options on frame already to mount things. (For bike packing)
  14. I'm in. I use the ferry home so anywhere on the viaduct/waterfront/wynyard is good for me. I work @ 104 Fanshawe.
  15. She's a very big/tall 2y4m old. Wearing 4y old clothes!
  16. I have jury service next week (hoping it actually doesn't last the whole 2 weeks). We can move it earlier too, no? I'll make it if it's not next week.
  17. I'd be keen for a MTB ride too, with the kids. Layla is loving the MTB thing!! Edit: and she can say bicycle in 3 languages
  18. Last year my sis bought a house in Port Elizabeth for R1.3m, huge house in complex needed a new kitchen but otherwise it's 'modern'. Here that size and look house build out to of wood will go for $2+ mil. Quality in SA is much better. R1mil in SA gets you more than $1m in Auckland for sure.
  19. Yip, the end of last year we were looking at a house there, kinda in the same profile than what we are getting now (minus reserve view). That one would have been $800k, now those topically go for $1.16m. We have to cough up a bit more now and I'm kicking my bum not for engaging last year when I thought the price was to high... Ummm We love the area we are staying in, but most of the things we love (waking distance from beach, cycling to work & school for one of us now only, nice windsurfing spots, close to public transport to city) we can have that side too. With a few extras (nice view, new warm house, cycle into city/work, more windsurfing spots). The ONLY negative thing we have is now we have the best schools in our zone, there we will have to go for other options Catholic/ Montessori/hope we make the ballot/become a school board member. I've phone each and every school there that's out of zone and all said there's a possibility to get Layla in even if she's out of zone, so I feel more relaxed now.
  20. The only area cycling distance from both our works with a new development is Wai O Taiki Bay. We got one facing the reserve in a cul-de-sac with an amazing layout opening to a park and sea view through the trees. So we settled for having to drive through the other 1000 houses :/ My sis is also enjoying staying in the area so for us it's the best option now. Edit: just now the long wait till completion...
  21. Let's hope it stays that way over the next say 10 years!!
  22. Na, not auction, off plan. We will continue with our interest to purchase. Let's see if we can move in in 9 months time. (I'm Very scared about the huge amount of debt we will now go in.)
  23. The house we want came back $100k more than what we expected. It's evil that my mind still sees that as not too much because of being so use to large figures due to Rand's. It's so much money this house thing, but I'm sick of paying so much rent too
