  1. Not to continue . . "that" . . debate, but I hear there is only two types of riders sticking to 26ers - those who haven't ride a "clown bike" yet and those who can't afford a "clown bike"
  2. Are you refering to the 2 zebra's? Was quite something!
  3. I'll rather give him some gears. . . .
  4. Doing the race - team: Mountain Warriors
  5. Can't wait!! Weather forecast also looks good!
  6. Want to confirm the registration / collection venues and times, so I checked out the advendurance.com website. Interesting, according to their time counter for the Nissan #3 race, it seems we're going to need some good lights – seems we are going to start around midnight! I also cannot open the "race registration click here" option? Anybody else have the same problem?
  7. My first Baviaans, was only invited a week ago to join a team. What an awesome experience!!!
  8. Received a late invite to join a team. Have to travel down from Pretoria. Any suggestions on how to get bike down there if I fly down? Otherwise anyone to join me driving down?
  9. Okay, so at what point would you let him ride on his own?? 12 years? 16 years? 18years? 20 years? It is necessary to be protective about your loved ones, but believe me, impossible to do it all of the time! There were even bike-jackings in races (Nissan Irene 2010) – would you also not letting your kid or wife ride the fun races without you next to them? We ride quite often in Groenkloof, there were also times that my kids wasn’t always in my sight all of the time. Calling me a reckless parent? My wife wouldn’t be able to resist any more than a kid - there were times when she was alone on some of the Groenkloof sections as well. Point is – everybody thought Groenkloof was a safe environment to ride in! That is why people relaxed a bit more regarding safety in Groenkloof. Think there were about as many kids runned over by a car in my street than kids being attacked in Groenkloof. Must I never let my kids cross my street again on their own? My motto: Be safe, aware and prepared for any situation, but don’t live paranoid, because then you became a victim without being assaulted. My 5 cents worth.
  10. Anyone ordered photo's? I have and made a payment as well. Haven't received any photo's yet. Send an email to follow up on wednesday, still no feedback?
  11. Spoke to him afterwards - he checked out my gps stats. He said his gps measured it at 84km (my distance was 89.24)
  12. @ ASG, 1) Thanks for an awesome weekend. The even the fun stuff saturday was great - the wife and kids enjoyed it a lot. And yes, I realy liked the route and race. The extra 9km was a bit of a surprise, but at least known halfway so I had the whole 2nd lap to set my mind on it! 2) Where and when will the results be posted? 3) Who is the race photographers, where will the photos be available? Thanks
  13. I disagree about some of the comments - think it was an awesome event and route. No real climbs, so the sand only made it a bit challenging. And did I hear mountain bikers complaining about single track?
  14. Thanks. Well, great to be part of it then! Will be doing the 80km and are looking forward to it!
  15. Is this a SAS event?
