  1. Thanks Raydek, much appreciated. Dimensions 105 x 75 x 35, weight 18kg.
  2. I was lucky enough to get a 2nd hand Thule Euroride at a good price - unfortunately it is in Johannesburg. What would be the best / easiest / cheapest way to get it to Cape Town? I am going through there in a couple of weeks when on holiday so I can pick it up, but was hoping to use it by then. Has anybody couriered something like this before and can give me an indication of the cost?
  3. Ek dnk die 30km gaan hierdie slag meer my ding wees!
  4. It was tough, got some cramps at around 25km, but just kept going, managed to finish in around 3:37 (not official time, will wait to see what that was). Happy with making it, next year I'll be back!
  5. Lovely route, well done to all the organisers!
  6. I may need that along the route!
  7. Just do it, otherwise it will never happen
  8. So I've entered the 55 - wie nie waag nie sal nie wen nie!
  9. Is it ok if I finish on Sunday?
  10. I'm keen on taking on the 55, but the little voice on my shoulder is trying to stop me. I have to tackle the longer ones at some stage..., not sure if this is the right one for that.
  11. Has anybody done the Sondela MTB Classic (close to Bela-Bela) last year? It just so happended that this race is on when will be staying at Sondela on our way the the KNP at the end of June. I cant find it on the events calendar here, and just wondering if it is worth taking the bike with for this.
  12. Anybody know what time the winner of the 30km race did?
  13. I did the 30km, really enjoyed it (maybe it was due to my new bike!). This was only my 2nd "race", following the Die Burger MTB challenge last year, so obviuosly it is all still new to me. I have noticed some complaints on the forum about having to dismount and walk due to slower / less technically capable riders in front of you, and also experienced this on the track. I also found it hard to overtake other riders in some areas - specifically where they are riding or pushing their bikes next to each other (not that I did not push as well!). Dont know if I perhaps missed it somewhere, but at no stage was any sort of "riders briefing" given as is being done at offroad / enduro motorcycle events. Maybe this can help? At these riders briefings new riders were made familiar with danger / route markings, as well as the general rulses such as allowing faster riders to pass.
  14. I'm keen to do the 30km tomorrow - I assume I can enter there before the event?
  15. I can get either the GT Zaskar Elite or the Trek X Cal at prettty good price. The Zaskar I can get with tubeless coversion and some other odds and ends for R12000, and the Trek X cal I can get woth tubeless conversionn for R11800. Havent really looked at the Momsen before but have looked at the Merida TFS900 - no stock of this available. As far as I know the trek has a better fork than the GT, but dont really know the difference between the rest. The GT looks better. Tough choice....
  16. Sorry for hijacking your thread, I'm also in the market for a similar priced 29er. Have you considered the Trek X -Cal? SRAM X7 30-speed drivetrain RockShox Reba RL w/Motion Control lockout Avid Elixir 1 hydraulic disc brakes Bontrager 29-1 Expert tires Does anybody have some comments on this bike?
