  1. Hey Guys first thing you should know I'm a fairly new rider and have come from a Mongoose Tyax (Nic: the Whale) I'm turning 21 in Jan 2012 and like any other guy I'm searching high and low for what I want.... 1 problem! There's so much and I don't know which to choose, but hopefully with your help I'll be able to make up my mind! I'm 2.02m tall and 90 odd kg, I'm a stronger rider that prefers torque to cadence... I have an approximate budget of R16 000 and I have 2 trains of thought, buy 2011 at reduced price, or get a 2012 new? The 2011 29ers I'm considering: 1) Trek/GF X-Caliber (not sure on pricing) 2) Giant XTC 29er 3) Felt nine race (not sure of pricing again) 4) GT Zascar elite 29er 5) Fuji 29er... Not sure wat its called Hoping by chance to fall into my range: 6) Trek/GF Paragon 7) Specialized Stumpjumper Comp 29er I'm sure that this will become a whorehouse of opinions, but if possible please say why you'd choose "A" over the rest... Note I'm still a student so I want to keep it for a few years...
  2. Ok sweet thanks guys these leads will help me A LOT!!! Will definately check out Specialized.... Heard Gary Fisher(now as Trek) also bring out a XXL in their 29er range thanks
  3. Being over 2m tall has its advantages and disadvantages, try find any shoes bigger than size 12! I am currently in the market for size 14 mtb shoes, and the largest I can find is size 12, does anyone know of a decently priced shop to find these?(Bearing in mind I'm on a student budget) I'm also looking for a bike brand that has bikes in XXL, but only XL seem to be available! Any help will be greatly appreciated!
  4. Definately a 29er for me, I'm 6'6 and there is no comparison! It rolls over anything and the Gary Fisher G2 geometry is perfect for high speed and I find it very nimble in the windies too!
  5. No not yet but will check it out thanks
  6. Hi guys I'm looking at getting the new Gary Fisher Paragon 29er, I am looking for a good dealer in the Fourways/ Pretoria area.... I am looking for opinions on the bike or advice as to any other 29ers in the 15 000 rand range.... All help will be greatly appreciated.... Btw I'm 6'6 and 90kg so a big strong bike is necissary! Thanks Mike
  7. Hahahaha sorry, I'm still very new to the bicycle world, used to dabble in motorcross so I got a warped opinion, my Mistake its the XCMs not xtc( been coordinating a deal wit the giant xtc for a friend...) Yes I find I sometimes tend to bottom out or can't preload enough....
  8. I have a 2007 large Mongoose tyax with a SR Santour XTC spring shock with preload and I've cranked it all the way and it doesn't feel any different to the "neutral" setting, is there something wrong? Wat should I do to it? Or, wat should I set it to? I am 2m tall and 90kg and I enjoy the very technical stuff... Please keep in mind I'm a student and have a limited budget
