  3. Okay I do some times indoors. But it is cause of the light bulbs that is so bright. And after a night of heavy drinking as well or after working a night shift or if my hands are full of stuff. "Stuff" ........ what kind of stuff?
  4. Nice idea though. I'm sure it must work to some degree!

    Nice one Hot Stuff.
  6. Ditto that Zookster. Everyone wants to look like a fly! Mind you, cyclists walking around in their biking glasses look just as gookey!
  7. Well that depends on where you live, but in the Western Cape you can try Willie Engelbrecht or Cycle Lab. They both stock Specialized products.
  8. Yesterday I broke one of my Time RXS carbon pedals and decided to replace them with Speedplay Zero stainless. After fitting the new cleats I was wondering whether there is an "ideal cleat position" or whether it's just a matter of what "feels" most comfortable to the individual. I have mine set centred on the middle of the shoe (Specialized) and in the max forward position. That creates a natural "heel up" position for me which I feel helps keep me in the "pull and scrape" pedalling motion. From some reading, the general consensus seems to be over the ball of the foot is best, but there are obviously more controversial ideas such as this one as well: http://www2.trainingbible.com/joesblog/2007/01/cleat-position.html Any of you out there got any ideas on "ideal positioning"? 9. Well, fortunately I didn't pay for it. I swopped out a brand new Selle Italia SLR Gel Flow for it at my LBS. The listed price was R750.00 though. Give it a try, you won't believe the difference.
  10. As a noob roadie, and after very near on 2000km's of struggling to find a seat that I can end a ride on without feeling like I spent a night in Pollsmoor Prison , I finally resolved my problem. I tried nearly every Selle Italia, one Selle San Marco and even a PRO TransAm but nothing did the trick. Yesterday, after a particularly painful 47km morning ride, I got my hands on a Specialized Phenom Gel in 143 width and after another 47km this morning ....... HALLELUJAH ............ no more pain. It seems that all I needed was that extra width after all. All the previous seats were in the 130 to 135 width and obviously too narrow. We did some sit bone width measurements at the LBS and figured that I just needed a wider saddle. So, if you're going through a similar situation where your behind can't take the punch but your legs have still got plenty to give, GO GET YOURSELF MEASURED! You may just need a slightly wider saddle. The Phenom isn't exactly for the weight weenies at 275g, but it sure makes up for the weight penalty in comfort. The gap in the middle also allows for good blood flow and even after a lot of Km's on the aero bars I was very comfortable. Slightly more padding in the nose also helps. Hopefully this helps someone else out there! Wesbrad2008-02-09 09:02:57

You mean integrated seatpost? Nah, if I did that I couldn't spend all my hard-earned cash on sixteen different types of seatposts.Wesbrad2008-02-10 00:48:49

    Sh*te, I hope I burn off the weight before I find out first-hand!!! Wesbrad2008-02-05 03:24:08
  19. I've checked them all out and to be honest, can the SL be R3k-R4k better than the ES? If it's case of "I must have the newest" just for the sake of having the newest, I suppose it is. But for me, the ES are just fine thanks!

No they don't make them anymore but I have found a brand new set at my LBS and I went ahead and bought them. Yup, I think I'm going to love them too, even if they don't make them anymore! They don't make the Ferrari Enzo anymore either you know.
  21. I've been through the same thing twice. She's going to need a lot of support! Best wishes to her!
