  1. Howzit Martin As others have mentioned the geometry of the TRc is very much a love it or hate it. Personally I have ridden everything from an Ibis to a Kona, dw-link, maestro and Magic Link suspension. The attached pick is my current weapon of choice and I fall into the category of Love it, including the VPP suspension. The slack geometry suits me as I enjoy pushing the limits on descents. The bike does have some cons which depending on what you like, but they are manageable. The slack head angle makes for a bit of wandering when you climb steep hills slowly. Solved that relatively acceptably with a narrow handlebar. Rewards you hansomly on the descents though. The lower BB allows corning that is seriously impressive and fast. Downside when you are doing some seriously rocky terraine like Puffadder at Karkloof you tend to smack the pedals a little more often than what you would like. So fast flowing single track is what this machine is designed for. Despite any shortcomings this bike rewards in areas that other bikes are just acceptable in. Most those who do not appreciate it prefer bikes at completely the opposite ends of the spectrum ie. Pure XC or More All Mountain/DH. This bike easily performs as well as my previous 6 inch travel bikes and handles XC applications better than my previous XC bikes. If it is possible to get a test ride before you buy then do it as you might just find that you are the guy who hates the geometry once you are on it and then you are 50K down. As Cool as this bike is. It definately is not for everyone, but if you rode greater travel bikes in the past it surprises you as to how well this shorter travel in between actually compares. Good luck with your choice.
  2. Had a similar experience this weekend with the signs on purple route. Got horribly lost and was just lucky enough to be able to follow another group of riders home who seemed to know where they are going. Missing signs are not nearly as irritating as signs that are lying down or even worse signs that do not give a clear indication of which fork to actually take. As someone not local to the area it costs me well over R200 bucks in fuel and tolls to get there and back before paying the R50 preimium. The fact that I cannot guarnatee being able to ride a decent marked route has essentially dropped Holla off the list of places to ride for me.
  3. Big fan of the Santa Cruz Trc Thompson Cokpit with FSA Nano K Flatbar, Easton EA90 wheelset, XTR Trail Groupset, With pedals and non weight weenie Cane Creek Ergos the bike comes in at just under 11.5kg
  4. It would seem that all my eamils etc have finally paid off. Been contacted by Evan's and provided with some options to alleviate my frustrations. Once could argue a little to late but right now I am happy with late rather than never. Will post again related toteh success of my current arrangemnt with Evan's. Hopefully thee is light at teh end of the tunnel.
  5. Recently attempted to purchase 2 Brake disk Rotors as a testing the waters with Evans. The stock did not arrive, everything seemed like it was good when I first contacted the supprt team and they quickly claimed to have dispatched another replacement order to me. I queried if it was possible to pay for a more reliable method of delivery but was assured that it woud arrive soon. Unfortunately the so called second package did not arrive either. Subsequent attempts to communicate with Evan's Cycles seams to have fallen on Def ears, easpecially when I try and get any shipping information out of them. As such I will not be buying anything from them ever again as they just do not seem to be interested, which is sad considering the professionalism of some of the Other Online retailers. At the moment I am out of pocket with no stock for an oreder place around 2 months ago.
