  1. I want o congratulate him but honestly I'm just too jealous.

  3. Sup buddy. Yeah we did meet at the airport, hope you been well? Hope your buddy got some good miles out of that road bike.
  4. Ha ha yeah I cannot see myself skipping. On another note, there is the slight chance that the bike I bought is too big for me. If that is the case, I might entertain the idea of a new bike. If that is the case, I'm torn between a MTB which I know and love or trying something new and going for a road bike. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
  5. Good day ladies and gents Been riding MTB on and off for a few years now. Had to get rid of my 29er a year ago. So I acquired a road bike for what I thought was a good deal. I have never in my life been on a road bike before but I have never stood back from a challenge before. The bike is a size too big for me but I'm getting a professional bike fitting done so that I can get it the best I can with what I have available. The only factor that is going to make this a challenge for me is my weight. Its also the reason I want to start riding again. My current weight is 130kg and I'm 1.86 meters tall. I've done my fair share of googling so far but info is very vague, seems that very few riders weight this much. Are there any tips that some heavy riders have for me. Obviously I have not been overweight my whole life, been fit before so a sound eating plan is already in the works. Tips on tire pressure, etc would be helpful.
  6. Why what's wrong with what I asked?
  7. When collecting my stuff I noticed it said that I'm donating my medal to the CHOC foundation even though I never selected that option when paying. Anyone know how I can fix this, I'm gonna work damn hard for that medal.
  8. Wow I suck at real MTBing and this too.
  9. I believe I'm in J batch too. I'll be the guy in the back. Edit: Oh nevermind I double checked, I'm L. I'll still be in the back though.
  10. I wear whatever fits me, if I end up looking like a chop, then so be it. I'm here to enjoy cycling, not look like a cover model. And I keep stickers and boards, its an achievement and I like to be reminded of it when the riding gets tough.
  11. Thanks for the reply. Yeah these look decent. Are these the only type of floating bridges at the race? I was concerned about those flimsy pallet type bridges, reckoned no matter how fast and smooth I would go over them I would still sink.
  12. Thank goodness some spots opened up. Got an entry to the 40km race. I have a concern about those floating bridges though. If you're a heavy rider, can you still go over them? I'm 133Kgs.
  13. Yeah but then you okes post a crash..............from a skills class.
  14. I should really refrain from visiting this thread before a ride.
  15. While the Garmin FR70 does look like a fantastic combo I just could not justify spending a grand more for something that I already have. IMO those funds can rather go for something essential like a tubeless conversion etc. So I got the Polar FT2 for 800 bucks. It does very little but its all the info I require.
  16. Ah yeah I see. Buycycle has them for just under 2K. Damn that would be perfect. Personally the only time I run is when I run for my life.
  17. Thanks for the recommendations guys. Unfortunately the Edge 200 has no HR feature and the V650 and Edge 500 are out of my price range. I have a wireless cycle computer that I'm more than happy with as it tells me all the info I care about. Otherwise I might as well just keep it and get a cheap HR watch like the Polar FT2 @R900. Anything I need to look out for when buying a cheap entry level HR monitor bearing in mind I'm no pro.
  18. Afternoon gents and ladies I'm looking at getting my first HR monitor. I do MTB riding and currently trying to lose weight after being off the bike for two years. Just something basic as I want to maximize my morning rides but............I love simplicity and though of rather getting something that I can use as a cycling computer as well. I don't like the idea of having to carry around countless electronic gadgets as the simplicity of cycling is the main appeal to me. Is there something that does the above you guys can recommend me that is well built yet won't break the bank. Lets say max budget of about R2000. It can be either wrist or handlebar fitted. Also hope this is the right section to post this.
  19. Hey guys selling my SS. Drop me a PM if anyone is keen. http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l612/BertieR27/20140104_074459.jpg
  20. This is my everyday commute. First SS build, was fortunate enough to make the parts myself and only struggled aligning the chain up straight. Only thing I still desperately need are some nice 2'' wide 26'' road tires and a rigid fork. Anyone know where I can get them? And I'm shopping around for a black saddle. http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l612/BertieR27/20140104_074459.jpg http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l612/BertieR27/20140104_074535.jpg Oh and yes I did remove the chain guard.
