  1. Hi guys, Looking for some help, as I picked up that I have a crack on my Scott Spark 60 (2010 model) swing arm or rear triangle. I'm sure the Scott dealer won't be able to sell me a new part but will give it a try. If there is anyone out there that know of or is aware of someone or place selling or have a frame please let me know? Obviously at this stage I am weighing up my options and potentially just upgrade to a new bike with some better specs since the Spark 60 is quite old. But want to try and look for the part first at least. Your help will be appreciated. Thank you.
  2. I'm looking for a carbon Scott Spark, from 2020 upwards. Size Medium. Budget around R40k. Thanks
  3. Hi, I'm looking to get back into the mountain biking scene and therefore need a bike. If anyone has or knows of a used Scott Spark 940/950 that's for sale I'd greatly appreciate the help. I'd like one with the newer geometry (2017 and newer). There don't seem to be many available here on the classifieds. Thanks in advanced, my cell is 0833006789.
  4. Doing some homework on a possible new dual suspension bike. The Scott Spark 940 (2018) is high on the list currently. My only concern is where to store everything? It only has place for one bottle cage. So what I want to find out from Spark riders is where do you store your stuff? What does your setup look like? I have stopped using saddle bags after my third bag mysteriously unzipped itself mid-ride and dropped bombs on the trail. I now use a canister in the second bottle cage on my HT. Tube I can tape to the frame somewhere. Invest in a Sahmurai Sword? I know, I know, I can get an Epic and have 2 cages and place for a swat box. Problem solved.
  5. The Scott Spark is an iconic cross-country and marathon race bike. While it may have been tempting to stick to a successful formula, Scott took the bold move to completely redesign the Spark range. For 2017, forget what you knew about the Scott Spark as everything from suspension design, geometry, and even the intended riding style has seen a complete overhaul. Click here to view the article
  6. Hey fellow hubbers The time has come to buy a new MTB. After 6 years of trusted service from my alu hardtail, my body has decided that a dual sus with longer travel is required. I am a weekend warrior, thus the slacker geometry and longer travel will make the ride more enjoyable (or so I read). Below are the bikes I have on my radar. You guys are welcome to comment on the list, recommend bikes I have missed or remove if I should not consider due to experience. The option on my budget Scott Spark 930 2018 – R40k: https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/scott/products/scott-spark-930-2018 Scott Spark 920 2017 (carbon main frame) – R49k http://www.vbike.co.za/scott-spark-920-2017/ Trek fuel ex 9.7 2018 (carbon main frame) – R53k https://www.trekbikes.com/za/en_ZA/bikes/mountain-bikes/trail-mountain-bikes/fuel-ex/fuel-ex-9-7-29/p/2144600-2018/?colorCode=black_red Specialized Camper comp 2018 (carbon main frame) – R55k https://www.specialized.com/za/en/mens-camber-comp-carbon-29---2x/p/133921?color=239846-133921 Ideally I would like to stay as close as possible to my budget of around R40k, however considering I am going to ride this for a long time I can probably stretch it a bit for good reason. My LBS does not have any of the bikes I am looking at, and this is where I have a problem. I do not mind buying the bike over the internet (if my LBS cannot get the bike for a competitive price). But I would like to test ride the bike. From the treads below, it is clear that a test ride is important to make a decision. Similar treads on bike hub: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/172711-what-to-buy-scott-vs-giant-mtb/ https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/172692-spez-camber-comp-2017-or-giant-anthem-2-2018/ https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/171934-spaz-camber-2018-or/ Thus I have come to the point for my blabbing on in this post: I live close to JHB/PTA area and are able to drive through for a day over the weekend to test ride some bikes. I do not know where or which bike shops have demo bikes to test based on my list above and this is where you guys come in. I am looking for bike shops I can contact to test ride as many of the bikes in a day as possible
  7. After hosting successful demo days in Gauteng, SCOTT Sports Africa will be running a series of countrywide demo days for you to test ride the 2017 SCOTT range of bikes, including the all-new Spark platform that took top honours in at the Rio Olympics. Click here to view the article
  8. The time has come to upgrade to a full sus and I'm torn between these two. Please could I have your opinions??? Both are retailing for R45999. Much appreciated! http://cyclelab.com/images/detailed/4/SESTA-COMP-1150x766%5B1%5D.png The Silverback has a carbon frame but the components aren't as good as what comes with the Spark. No dropper post, 2x10, no dual remote lockout. However, having a carbon frame allows for the opportunity to upgrade the components down the line. http://cyclelab.com/images/detailed/4/Scott-Spark-940-2017-e1472619134859%5B1%5D.jpg The Spark has an Alloy frame (bike weight reported at 13.5kg) but has better components. Possibly no need to upgrade components but I'm stuck with the alloy frame. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii77/cityofgates/Screen%20Shot%202017-01-10%20at%206.09.45%20PM.png Click on the table above to see a comparison! Thanks again for the help!
  9. I am in the market for a new bike and have finally narrowed it down to these 2 bikes. Scott Spark 910 or Cannondale Scalpel Si 3 They are similarly priced and have a very similar spec with the Cannondale have an XTR drivetrain over the XT for the Scott. The main thing that puts me off the Cannondale is Lefty shock.. perhaps someone can give me positive feedback on it that will help me over come this. If it had a Fox fork my decision would be made already. What I dont like about the Lefty shock is it limits your wheel options and I already have 2 sets of spare wheels.. but if I were to damage a wheel in a multistage race I think, could be wrong of course, it would be far easier to source a "normal" wheel than a Lefty wheel to continue. Is there no twisitng of the fork under braking on the Lefty? What I like about the Cannondale is the lifetime warranty on the frame, this is important to me seeming as every MTB I have had thus far I have had a claim on the frame for cracks. Spark only has a 5 year warranty which is ample because IMHO the lifespan of a MTB is about 5yrs. I do long rides/races and multiday events. So want a bike that is easy to handle and comfortable for long distances. The Cannondale I think is more of a 1 day racer but I could be wrong? I am a heavy rider - current weight is 98kgs although trying to get to 90kgs but cant see myself ever going below this....

  12. Scott have announced an all-new Spark platform which will support three different bikes, Spark RC, Spark and Spark Plus. The Spark is a completely new bike and you don't need to look further than the suspension design to see that. The old top link design has being replaced with a spanking new single-pivot rocker link system. Scott have been aggressive with their implementation of new technologies on the Spark: boasting cutting edge carbon construction techniques, bringing the geometry up-to-date, the use of new standards like Boost and metric shocks, and even adapting the brake mounts for more flexible stays.
