  1.

Ek is 'n trotse Afrikaans sprekende Afrikaan. En my kind is in 'n Afrikaanse skool. Maar as mense kleinlik raak oor my taal dan sal ek my mening lig.

  2. Afrikaans was and will always be a kitchen language. Its sentence construction is to rigid and complex to gracefully accommadate words and ideas from other languages . It will always sound common when mixed with other languages..............

Ja, jy is seker reg.

  3. Marissa I have the greatest respect for you speaking in Afrikaans' date=' just show it is still alive .When Pierre Spies received his awards at rugby functions this year,he spoke Afrikaans. Cyclemania is one of those people that can only voice his opinion under another name. Wonder how you will speak infront of people in your 2nd language .[/quote']

    Get a lifeCry

  4. Yes it is the same girl of the 94.7. She only spoke Afrikaans winning the award last year two. How did she get by in <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Europe......? Sorry there are times that to "praat die taal" and there are times that you at least try and speak English. Even the European riders try no matter how bad they do.

Crap. I take it then that when an english speaking person is interviewed in Afrikaans you would also take exception to that person responding in english? What about an italian or dutch or french person being inteviewed in afrikaans? How many of you souties would be happy to be interviewed in afrikaans? Fact is, she is the champ, and she can speak in any language she chooses. Find something else to moan about.
  5. All of the above is true, I have also donated pumps, tubes etc. never to have them replaces. BUT, sometimes it's great when someone does help. Last year at the 94.7 I got 3, yes that's three, flats. Only carried 2 spares, so had to beg for a third. Took about 10 minutes, but a great lady in her fifties stopped and donated it. I asked for her details, but she would have none of it. Just gave it up and carried on riding.

  6. It is about 120km to Parys from there, however there are some roadworks on the road after you turn off to Parys from the highway. I would allow 2 hours to be safe. Likely will only need about 1:30 or so, but rather be 30 mins early than 5 late!

  7. Teleurgestel omdat ek dink dis nie MTB race of omdat ek nie dink dis 'n roadie race nie !!! To Hell & Back as MTB races .

Ek hoor jou.

  9. Ek  moet se ek is redelik teleurgesteld in julle.

Ek gaan daar wees. Sal saterdag ry, en sondag by ons waterpunt werk by Hakuna Matata. . .
  11. DR that's a roadbike ride on dirt' date=' why would you want to go there?

Will be riding Vodacom Race for Victory that weekend.
    [/quote']

Hey BB, why so disparaging about his ride? I did the long route a few weeks ago sans the crowd (like Scotty), and I must say I'm looking forward to this saturday. It's actually a great day out in nature, lots of other people also out to have fun on bicycles and there is also the issue of THE BEST RUN WATER TABLE IN THE BUSINESSsmiley2.gif

Check out the water table at Hakuna Matata, about 30 clicks from the end. The Green crown will be there on both days this year, so remeber to stop by and say "Hi"! I will be riding on the saturday, but if there is anyone riding on the sunday, look me up OK?
  12. Hi there folks, long time no writepost_button_smiley.gif

As was the case last year, we (Future Forward) will again be doing the water table at the 70km mark - Hakuna Matata. As there is a race on both days, we will be there both days!

Unfortunately Droster is participating in the marathon on the Sat, but for those doing the shorter one on Sun, please look me up when you go by!
  13. The weekend has finally arrived! Some of you may remeber the 3 day tour I am organising this weekend. Well, we are leaving on Friday! I am sad to say that only 1 hubber is joining us, but if there is still some interest, please let me know.

The invitation is this: On Saturday we are going to ride the Crater Cruise route with the organisers. For a small donation to the charity that this weekend is for, are there any hubbers interested in joining us?
  14. Someone sucking up to MichH? I wonder if this acceptable practice with roadies' date=' sneaking water out of someone else's CamelBak........or maybe he was putting something back into the CamelBak - best we don't go there.....2006-08-15_115209_DSC00799.jpg

    [/quote']

Best kept secret of the entire day - imagine my amazement when MichH offered me a sip, and it turned out to be . . . .yup, you guessed it - BEER

Only then did I understand why she consistently got her directions wrong! All I can sya, if she says go left, you'd better go right, otherwise yuore in troubleWink
