  1. Shova is downhill for 38km the tour of Durban is a much harder race imho. So mcuh more climbing than the Shova
  2. 2nd the bridge crossing, not only a pain walking over the gravel to get to the bridge, but the steps were narrow, and no grip, so walking over the metal steps carrying your bike was not ideal. I also clocked my time on my watch and cpu at 3:31 yet racetec has it as 3:37!!! Thought the route was great and marshling was good, they tried their hardest, but durban drivers are the worst in my experience, and Umgeni road was a mine field. Will be back for sure again next year, wont worry again with the goodie bag, got my number in 5min but then had to wait in a looooong que for the rubbish goody bag so skipped it. thanks the organisers for keeping my car keys, that would have been a long walk back to JHB!
  3. Guys, Am looking for thoughts on what the value of my bike is as would like to sell, and would like an honest opinion on what you think I could achieve. I have built it up from scratch so not sure. I think R15-17k would be a fair price... Spec as follows: Frame Scott CR1 Carbon HMF-Net Fibres Fork HMF-Net carbon steerer integrated Carbon dropout 1 1/8" steerer Headset Ritchey Integrated Cartridge Rear Deralier Shimano Ultegra 6700 Grey 20speed Front Deralier Shimano Ultegra 6700 Grey 10speed Shifters Shimano Ultegra 6700 Grey 10speed Sti Brakes Shimano Ultegra 6700 Grey front & rear Crankset Shimano Ultegra 6700 Grey 53x39 175mm Bottom Bracket Ultegra 6700 English thread Handlebar Ritchey WCS Logic 2 wet black 44cm Stem Ritchey WCS 100mm 31.8mm 10 degree angle . Any assitance would be appreciated. Thanks
  4. Hi All, Am thinking about buyng the Merida Reacto 907-com 2012 roaf bike. Spec as follows: Frame REVO Nano carbon Fork BC CF lite-S Taper Derailleur Front Shimano Ultegra Double Derailleur Rear Shimano Ultegra-SS Shifter Shimano Ultegra Brake Shimano Ultegra Chainwheel Shimano Ultegra Chain KMC X10SL Rim Fulcrum Racing PRC Freewheel Shimano CS-5700 Tire Vittoria Rubino Pro Slick 23 150 Fold Handlebar FSA Energy Ergo OS Handlebar Stem FSA SLK Headset Big Conoid Neck CF Seat Post Carbon S-Flex Aero Saddle Selle Italia SL XC M Really nice bike, and good spec, and price (mates rates) Does anyone have an opinion yes/No quality issues etc. I am going to sell my Scot CR1 comp to upgrade. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks
  5. Go for the Scott. newer bike, and cheaper. Once you get into the sport and feel you need to improve on components and frame etc, then spend the money. No point getting the GT if you not comfortable.
  6. I have never had any issues with CWC. I always receive as above X3 e-mails. My last order was placed two weeks ago on a Thursday at 14:25 and I received it the next morning! Only had positive experiences with them. BC just as good, I had to change some items and they were very quick to sort out.
  7. I have dealt with A(S)G before, and Joanita is a star! I agree with one of the above posts, big deal, so what. Customer is happy, A(S)G is happy so what's the big deal. Valid points made, but come people cant we all just get along.
  8. Agree with Super Mario, I have the 2011 CR1 Comp great frame and full 105 groupset. Super stiff and I love it. You will want to go carbon at some stage, take the plunge now and get the CR1 instead of the Pro go Comp then upgrade over time. The 105 Groupset is bullet proof, and I have had no problems. The S20 is a good bike, but when the bug bites you will wish you were on carbon, it is lighter, stiffer, the CR1 frame has SDS damping so you dont feel the vibrations as much as you might. It is super fast. I have yet to meet anyone that isn't happy with their CR1 frame. And Scott has a good reputation.
  9. My thoughts for what they are worth..... Too good to be true. The P4 also has Zipp wheels on it, but advertised as Shimano RS30 I am also no expert, but those bikes should be going for at least R35k a pop me recons as they look to be in mint condition but what do I know!
  10. Thanks StuB, At last someone is able to post something concrete. I have tried to access the ebsite as directed, and still not working, will try from my home pc tonight. Perhaps next year the event organizers should update and advertise more to ensure that this race can actually grow. It looks like on the past there have been issues, which I hope you would like to avoid going forward.
  11. CrazyChild, what site did you go onto? I have been trying for ages but everytime I click on the link it responds forbidden. I cant even get onto the website address I used before to e-mail event organizers. I believe the route is from Moses Mabida stadium, out to Pinetown then turn to Balito and back to stadium. It looks like the mtb race is happening, but I cant find anything about the Road classic.
  12. Very annoying. Also looked last week, youd think they would get their act together. I am going to e-mail them again to find out what's going on,!
  13. Agree with above post. I have the Look Keo Classic and they are really good. 105 pedals will fit your purpose, but the Looks for the extra cash are better, also dont think 105 come's with cleats, that's an extra R170 Looks come with cleats so price difference not a big deal
  14. I have Scott CR1 frame with full Ultegra, in my opinion a fantastic bike, you should get Scott for your price range with Ultegra, wheels may not be the best. In your bunch, m pick would be the Cannondale (105) great looking bike, 105 is an under rated groupset, then you can always upgrade. I agree with the above post, always buy the best frame you can get, then upgrade components as you go. LEt us know what you went for in the end?
  15. Hi, Please could you let me have Josh's details or a bit more info, as I am keen on learning a thing or two about the bike maintenance side to biking, and if I can support a start up business that makes it even better.
  16. If anyone is interested. The race is taking place, I received confirmation direct from the event co ordinator, and they are in the process of updating their website. Event date is the 29th April 2012 Cheers
  17. Anyone know if this race is taking place again this year? thought the website would have been updated by now if it was. Can find anything on the web that can confirm yes or no. Thanks
  18. Thx for your replies, 31.6mm it is!
  19. Hi, Thanks for your posts, my bike is a 2011 Scott CR1 Comp. Will pull the seatpost out tonight and take a look. Cheers
  20. Hi, Stupid question, but can someone tell me how to measure my seatpost width? I need to buy a new one, and not sure if it is the post width or the frame width... Many thanks
  21. Thanks everyone for your posts. I weigh 92kg so should be ok. Took the plunge and bought a Scott CR1 Comp. 105 Groupset Very nice and super fast bike. Happy cycling. Cheers
  22. Hi, I am no light weight, and wanted to know if there is a maximum weight allowed for a road carbon frame. I know it will vary from mnf to mnf but if anyone has a general idea I would appreciate it, as I dont want to take the plunge only to break the frame a year down the line. Thanks
