  1. I did end up buying it. Got discount for cash purchase. They are flexible with price

  3. I think it is my next purchase. R15,500 at Hot Spot Cycles. Will need to make one or two upgrades, but think the frame is a good starting point, and it is light!
  4. Ditto, love my AL529 but think I woudl have spent the extra to get the R-type, it also looks a bit nicer...
  5. Scott CR1 Comp Full 105 Carbon Frame You should be able to pick one up for around R15k

  7. Touch. Size, storage, versatility
  8. Upgrade to Ultegra. Agree with above post, Mavic rims you have are perfect, you will need to spend alot more to get similair in carbon etc.
  9. Momsen AL529 or AL329 Good spec, and great frame. I have the 529 and it works for me.
  10. They are a good bunch. Steve and Donna always make me feel welcome. Bought two bikes from them, and wont take my road or mtb to anyone else to be seen to. The service area is open for everone to see which is a good thing, as you can see how clean the workshop area and tools are. I am a firm believer, if your area is neat clean and organised then you can do a proper job!
  11. Guilty by association, that's the problem. Good luck, will pop into the store in a week or two to give you some feedback
  12. I support my LBS because they are simply that. S.W is a massive chain with huge staff turnover, and buying power, yet we dont always see the savings. I would rather go to my LBS as I always get a discount, get acknowledged by name and a smile. They keep a record of everything done to my bikes under my name, and the workshop is clean, open and visible for all to see which is important I think. Dont think you will ever get that from S.W and I woudld rather pay R100 more for a service form my LBS.
  13. ZZZzzzzzzzzz
  14. About to get the 2012 Momsen AL529 any views guys? Hijack off...
  15. Wouldnt trust my bike at Sportsman's Warehouse. Will have to see a significant improvement in the abilities of the workshop before I would ever consider it. If the price is the same as the price of my LBS no way is it going anywhere near S.W. You should display with their pictures certificates that the workshop guys have all gone on an intensive training workshop etc in order to improve the public perception as most people I know would never consider taking even their kids bike to SW to be fixed. Generally the only people that would take their bike to S.W are the ones that purchased them there in the first place.
  16. Sorry guys being thick, but have been trying to figure out how to load a pic on the thread but cant. Please help and tell me how to do it? Thx
  17. Hi Guys, I found a Garmin edge over the weekend on the R511 on the side of the road, it seemed to fly of the back of a bakkie. If you can tell me the model and colour happy to return it to it's rightfull owner. Cheers Rob
  18. Have it, works fine, took me a few minutes to figure out the buttons. Have used for two years solid at gym and cycling can def recommend. For the price u cant get better me thinks
  19. Not for me
  20. Normally a 60km loop around the Cradle average speed is 28-29km/h. In last race (tour of Durban) average was 31.5km/h on my own with no drafting.
  21. I did a 3:27 in the rain last year in the Shova and was semi fit. Felt strong for the TOD and pushed all the way and did a 3:31. The M4 just seemed to go on forever and the hills after 15km up to Pinetown where hectic. In the Shova, if you can get past Hillcrest you are home free, and can pump all the way home. See how you feel this year doing the Shova, I am sure you will do a much better time. I am aiming for a 2:50 in the Shova this year which I think is achievable.........
  22. Hi sorry, Bike is one unit, not splitting it up. Cheers
  23. Thanks guys, I think R15k is a fair price, and you have confirmed my thoughts. Now to make the hard decision to sell. Not sure the Merida 907 reacto is worth it.
