  1. I see that the posts are quite old on this thread. I rode at Kingskloof on 6 July 2019 and it is in tip top condition. The marking and signage is improved and the trails trimmed. I suspect probably because of a recent trail run event. The point is, the ride is clean and still gnarly and there are more hikers than before. More people using it which is promising and it is in the best nick it has been in for years. Give it a go. There is a fantasic descent from the road cut by the Voortrekers right down to near the dam. fast and fun.
  2. I am looking for a 2 bike carrier - and came across this thread. Has anyone bought or used a Holdfast Platform 2 or 3 bike carrier? They advertise in the classifieds on the Hubsa and seem reasonably priced.
  3. Hi - I have a Giant Anthem 29 X1 2013 large and want to upgrade to a 2017 (or 16) model. I am thinking about simply buying a new frame. Will that be the most cost effective plan? I see that right now I could maybe get R 20 k for my bike and a 2016 Giant Anthem 29 X can be sourced at about R 29k. That boils down to a R 9 k upgrade which i can live with but I would like to know what a new frame costs and even then whether it will be a significant improvement on what I have. Has anyone done this exercise? ta.
  4. I have entered to do this race having grown up very near to the Imfolosi Reserve, so it is a return to my roots in a way. But I don't know what to expect. Has anyone done this race in the last few years and if so how did they find it and where is the race village in the reserve?

thanks Guys - the trick is to place the files into the new files folder on your device and not the courses folder. Guess using a course once a year makes one forget .

that is what I did this time but no luck.It wont reflect on the device under courses.

Is anyone else battling to get the course for the race onto their devices - I have a Garmin 800 edge and have loaded the course onto it in the 3 different formats and while they show on the computer as being on the device - they don't reflect on the device at all - I have read that Garmin Express is a problem and have removed it but still no luck. Does anyone else have the same problems and more importantly how does one fix it?
  8. Guy the walkers have been walking there for years -do you require them to adjust to the incresed traffic by putting there dogs of leashes.Perhaps the problem is worse then it seems.
  9. I have tried to check if this has been a topic recently but it doesnt look like it has.It involves the traffic of cyclists thru Delta Park and what is happening there. There has been an explosion of MTB traffic thru the Park.I ride mtb and I walk my dog thru the Park and things are getting a bit sillyFor example I have seen a group of cyclists screaming down a hill between some horses and some walkers absolutely flat out.In addition walkers cant always hear an approaching cyclist. Add to that what happens when a dog crosses the trail and the owner did'nt even hear the approaching cyclists.I have started training my little brown mongrel to sit when he sees cyclists approaching.(you may have seen us). A friend recently recounted how his girl friend was threatened in Delta Park by a cyclist who nealry crashed into her labrador. He dropped his bike after approaching her and threatened to #uch her up.Come on guy, you know who you are.Shame on you. My point is there is increasingly heavy cycling traffic in Delta and there is a increasingly heavy incidence of walkers use the park. Why antagonise each other? Be considerate of the users of the park and things should be okay (although I doubt it). Maybe this blog can be the start of an educational drive to highten awareness of the problems and if necesary signs should be erected drawing the attention of cyclists to the fact they share the park with others.Make no mistake if the current trend continues cyclist will eventually be banned from the Delta. There you are.
  10. Hi, I went there over Easter and was very pleasantly surprised.Granted I wouldnt drive from Jhb to Underberg regularly for the experience but if I was is in the vicinity of Underberg I wouldnt miss giving the Sani Spoors trails a go. The trails are not for beginners in as much as I couldnt expect my daughters to cope -although the web site mentioned an easier route on jeep tracks. The trails are well maintained pretty and quite demanding with two hill ride requiring some hard work and then the reward of glorius descents through the pine trees. It costs R30 per day and can be found on the road to Drak Gardens about 5 kms out of Underberg.(go past the Underberg Golf Course and then turn at the first right turn off -Sani Spoors is on the left where the Duck and Spoors sign is) The local accomadation is reasonable and decent and here I mention the Old Hatchery and Riverlea farms. Both right on the edge of the trails.(see their websites)There is a move to develop a market for athletes who want a training base as the area is undoubtly beautiful but has access to 100sof kms of tar for roadies and the mountains of course for normal okes.
  11. Does anyone knpw of any trails in the Underberg -Himeville area-I am going there for Easter and am definately taking my mtb bike?
  12. went back to thaba and rode the green route -was surprised how easy it seemed until I got to the gully then it was wallking for a 1km or so -do peopl really ride up such steep sections damn I could barely push up.Any way green rocks.
  13. thanks for that I am sure to come back and will take your advise.
  14. Went there with JMBC and rode the intermediate rides -found it really difficult especially the ascents (i think the tech sections made me tense and that made me tired). How difficult areThabo Trails in normal mtb parlance? Have started going to Reitvlei and Kings Kloof to prepare for a comeback though.
