  1. Hi BL How are those strong bright rear lights doing. I would like to order one for my hardtail comutor cheers
  2. Crow, One of the theories is that the shocks come packed flat and that the seals dry out. When you fit the shock you need to stroke it properly. This makes sense as I worked as a damper engineer. If you dont, the seals are damaged rather soon after you strat riding and the shock "blows". I have not heard of any problems for the last few months with the exception of during the Epic, but that is often people riding older unserviced and un-maintained equipment. I will be over in the Rockies in 6 weeks and will check to see if I can see one of these.
  3. Crow, I feel that they are ahead of fox re: the rear brain shock. They had some hassles, but those are now sorted. I have 2 bikes, one Carbon and one ally and never had a shock issue. I love they way they work and feel when setup real hard.
  4. I see that they have moved the shock to under the top tube and run a remote reservoir for the rebound damping. The seat stays are now symetrical instead of the chain/seatstays having an offset shock mount. It looks like they are following the Scott spark designs. Still the best marathon bike available I am sure!
  5. Hi BL How is that rear light design coming along? Rgs AO
  6. Brighness of a particular light is only one of many facets of a great light. Most cheapish bright lights have a crap mounting system or porr chargers etc. Still very difficul to beat the Lupine Wilma as a total package even at the price! Case is great, machining is fabulous, awesome light, fantasticaly simple mounting system
  7. USE Enduro is a bit heavy, but the latest one as a 3 LED compact (no wires) is a very good light. What about a 5 LED array in a halfmoon shape that can fix to the helmet keeping it aero dynamic.
  8. night tider, why dont you try these batteries, they look most impressive. You could also wrap them arounf the bar in a cordura bag. What sort of money are they and how do we get hold of them.
  9. Lap racing does not count as you start to learn the track. Try Trans Bav, thats a better gauge. BL, Are you using bar and helmet mounted light, we have had much better experience using 2 rather than one.
  10. Speedi15 Now thats real fun, you can tweak it and get to understand a bit about lighting. I will never undervalue the absolute fun that can be got making something. particualry if it is with your Ol' Man. Brighter-Lights is trying to make a serious rear orange flashing light for us, thats the next challenge. WE WANT 500 LUMENS REARWARD which we can dim if riding in a group. We ride all year round and 700lumens forward and and the Cateye range rearward is simply not even close to enough.
  11. Azonic, has IOM got any mountains? The BL light is excelnt value, but you cant be too fast on the downhill if the you max out at 700 lumens. I run 840 lumens helmet mount and it has serious limitations Try 2 BL's, one helmet one bar mount, you will go a lot quicker and you get a far better spread with the 2 attack angles. More is always more and I will never stop somebody from having what they want if they are happy to pay for it and it is not illegal. A good sale is where the buyer and seller are happy with the transaction
  12. but a lot faster. R20k will give you 4000 lumens 6hrs at less than 1,5kg What lights are you running?
  13. You can never be too thin or have Too much light. a R5000 BIKE WITH R20K LIGHTS is always faster than a 50k bike with R3k worth of lights. Nobody will take you out with that kind of light because they wont know what your are, and everyone has a fear of the unknown. With 4000 lumens forward and 600 red lumens rearward you could easily be mistaken for an attack helicopter, a nuclear reactor that has been broken open, perhaps even the second coming The design brief is to have the max amount of light using 1 to 1,5kg of Li-Po or similar with a life of 2,5 hours. All of this will be straped to a supercomutor hard tail weighing in under 8,5kg inc lights and powermeter
  14. Let's put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand. Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to R100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this: The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay R1. The sixth would pay R3. The seventh would pay R7. The eighth would pay R12. The ninth would pay R18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay R59. So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by R20." Drinks for the ten now cost just R80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes, so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men, the paying customers? How would they divide the R20 windfall so that everyone would get his fair share? They realized that R20 divided by six is R3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so: The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid R2 instead of R3 (33% savings). The seventh now pay R5 instead of R7 (28% savings). The eighth now paid R9 instead of R12 (25% savings). The ninth now paid R14 instead of R18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid R49 instead of R59 (16% savings). Each of the six was better off than before and the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. "I only got a <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Rand out of the R20, "declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, "but he got R10!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a Rand, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!" "That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get R10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill! And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, don't protect them against crime like in South Africaon>, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier. FOR THOSE WHO UNDERSTAND, NO EXPLANATION IS NEEDED. FOR THOSE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND, NO EXPLANATION WOULD EVER BE POSSIBLE!!<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Until 50% of the voting pulic have enough educttion to cast a "thinking" vote, we are f**ked!
  15. Please take a photograph, yes I know it is hard, but we all have cameras on our cellphones. You can send them to me and I will refer it to the club. Or you could shoot them, but be careful, its not legal and you could go to jail if you get caught. We have managed to sort this before using pics.
