  1. One used to be able to just go to Rooiwal, bringing some cash, enter, ride and have fun. Now you have to pre-enter or paying a R30.00 penalty, for me that takes the fun out of it, rather go for the Saterday clubride!
  2. Engen produced such a nice road race in Pretoria last year that was well supported by Pretoria standards. Now to change it to a criterium keeps a lot of open/seeded riders out of the event because most of us don't like going through a 90 degree corner in a bundle and there will be corners like that every 2-300 meters. I understand that the "serious" riders might like it, but why not keep a criterium after the road race to keep all happy?
  3. Welcome to the hub transporter, you wouldn't by any chance transporting bicycles to the argus do you?WT (I take it that you mean Racetec) service not half as good as championchit, how did you work that out??
  4. shares can drop even more. I tried to enter the "Jakaranda spring tough ride" only to discover that the c/c surcharge and admin fee are still added just before you pay. After all the comments on this forum and even their own admission that "in retrospect it might have been better bla, bla, bla" it looks like they don't give a $#@% for their own name and carry on regardless!! Looks like they cost us the Carousel already, who's next? I suppose most people don't care and just pay up, but the maybe 10% that do care make a big difference in the sustainability of a race.
  5. Christo's (chanpionchip) silence is deafening. This means he does not care (no good) Or he does not have an answer (no good) Or he is to sick to answer (might be valid)
  6. Good news!! Does this mean we can get part of our Kremetart entree fee back? or do we need to report them first to the relevant outhorities
  7. I took this up with the Argus organisers a couple of years ago.Their reply was that they would use championchip results in their seeding if it was available to them. But apparently Colin of championchip want to be paid (again) for releasing the results to them!!
  8. Suppose the organisers choose to include the creditcard surcharge in the entree fee. Who wil pay the 4,5% on the chips and charity donations? Although the organisers don't get anything out of chip sales and charity donations, I would not be suppriced if they charge the organisers that fee anyway!
  9. In that terrible expensive email they send around they only mention an fee of R220,- for the long distance. When you enter on their website it is only then that they "reveal" these hidden cost. So you thought you entering a R220,- race and end up paying about R240,- imagine going to Game because they are advertising a stove for R3000,- and when you are about to pay you dicover that they added 4,5% credit card surcharge. At least then you have the option to pay cash/check to avoid this fee, at championchip you don't even have that choice. I reackon it is illegal. Easy to find out, just report them and see what happens.
  10. To charge R5300.00 to send out an email to promote your own business? That sounds INSANE
  11. Apart from these charges and fee's, they also want you to "donate" a amount (plus 4,5% of course) for charity, normaly as far as I know part of the entree fee for cycle events was donated to charity by the event organiser. looks like this is also a "hidden extra" cost for us now. We should not accept this and boicot championchip timed events. starting with me not entering!!
  12. Is the Sondela Bela Bela challenge now going to be organized twice a year? It uses the exact same route, distances and venue, although it looks like a different organiser. The only difference is that they upt the price. Can't they start something from scratch on their own instead of copying somebody else their successful event
  13. Any chance that the Lonmin violence will have an impact on the race? I did enter but if things do not calm down i stay at home.
  14. I noticed that the New Fast One will be timed by Championchip. If I understand it correctly, this will mean that it is not taken into account at the national seeding! I only ride a few races per year, so do I need to look for Racetech timed events to keep a decent seeding?? The same happened to the 2011 Sun city event.
