  1. Having missed out on the 2008 crash despite my gut telling me that I should take the plunge I was determined not to do the same during the March 2020 drop off. Got Sasol at R28, discovery at R70. Waited a bit longer to buy FNB and it is now up 40%. Took a bet on Sun International rights issue which is very much long term and recently got some Dischem stock. I am hoping that in a few years time the profits from above should cover the costs of school fees for the little one. I get the sense it is probably too late to get into US stock now and since I don't know enough about it I was probably going to get an ETF or the like that is based on the index of the overall market.
  2. Was about to pull the trigger on rain 4g LTE uncapped now I am seriously reconsidering after reading this thread. We generally spend about a couple of months a year in Durban so makes no sense to go month to month on fibre. Besides the costs the installation will likely only be done just when we have to return to Jhb. So looking for a similar arrangement to what rain offers without the performance issues ie I can cancel after one month and rejoin when I am back in Dbn and I can comfortably stream content. Any other options out there?
  3. Watched episode 1 and thought okay I can get into this. That did not last long though...there is a fight scene in episode 3 that was about as B grade as they come. I immediately quit.
  4. Opened a lockdown gift from a buddy. He swears by De Grendel and I am coming around to his thinking
  5. Express vpn has a bit of a messy process to get your apple tv to run through their vpn, perhaps check if NordVPN has the same.
  6. Stick with Startup it will grow on you. I enjoyed Sneaky Pete on Amazon as well. That is the sum total of what I have watched on that platform. The rest were dire...still not sure why I have not cancelled yet.
  7. Watching Inmates on Netflix and not sure what to make of it but I continue watching. Entire story revolves around the inner workings of a Mexican prison and has some insane and hilarious characters in the prison warden and a lieutenant in a prison gang. Ps. If you don't like subtitles you should avoid.
  8. I am at s3 of Versailles. Love period dramas and this one has some great characters that really grow on you. For me the King is a bit meh. His brother steals the show. Such a complex character. 5 stars for the Peaky 4king Blinders (in the inimitable voice of Arthur)
  9. Watched it last night fell asleep towards the end. The fact that I haven't even bothered to go and check out the ending says it all. Loved the hot indian actress though. (are we still allowed to say this without getting into trouble?)
  10. Since I sorted out uncapped fiber, dumped DSTV and got Metflix and Amazon Prime been catching up on some awesome series. DSTV really kept me in the dark ages My top series so far Peaky Blinders Narcos Narcos Mexico Marco Polo Sneaky Pete Might give Sons Anarchy and Boardwalk Empire another spin...
  11. Netflix also has a movie about Bobby Robson that was brilliant. What a wonderful human being and manager. Also gives a lot of insight into how he shaped the thinking of Mourimho and Gaurdiola. Being a geordie I had mixed emotions about his time at the club but I shed a tear towards the end.
  12. Had a similar experience in Bali as I could recognize terms that my Cape Malay grandmother would use. Tera makasi translates into thank you..my grandma used a shortened version of the term to express gratitude. I don't think she frankly knows where Indonesia is.????
  13. I didn't even get to hang washing before I was told I need to wipe the clothes line first before I hang the washing.....I quit on the spot which predictably did not go down well
