  18. Hi Guys I see all the talk about more technical trails. We are working on it, and once we have finalised the route, so that there will be no oncoming traffic, we shall begin to really step up the difficulty. For those of you that have been to the park, you would have noticed the rocky outcrop right at the beginning of the trail, i am going to put a serious tech course there. Probably only be about 2 to 3 km but should be great fun, and claim some skin in the process. I did see that there was a post regarding the rocky outcrop in the north of the park, please stay well away from that koppie as it contains the only indigenous fauna and flora left. It is highly eco sensitive, and anyone riding their will be thrown out, and dealt with by Heartland. It states in the house rules and indemnity that all users abide by the rules to stick to pre-determined routes/trails. We cut them around certain areas for specific and environmental reasons. Lastly, I would like to open the trails for a night ride on the first weekend of June which is the 2nd. It co-incides with a full-moon which would be quite cool, and shed a little light on the trails. Before doing this, i need to first find out how many people would be keen to ride and would come through. Let me know asap, so I can organise.
  19. Hi All The situation is that we open at 06h30 Saturdays and Sundays. There is no hard and fast rule as to what time we close, however we usually selling entries at 15h30. In winter we would like users off the trail by 17h30. In Summer we will post our revised operating hours. Did anyone ride the new section through the wattle forest? Waiting for feedback on the section from all hubbers.
  20. Hi All We have launched our website which is a work in progress, so please be patient. However the directions and maps are posted and a "contact us" for any queries. We will be posting up the Survey photographs with tracks outlined in the weeks to come, as well as the upcoming events to be scheduled. http://www.centralparktrails.wozaonline.co.za
  21. Hi All Just finished riding the newly cut section, which shall be ready to ride this weekend. I kind of had that nursey rhyme going through my head while cruising through, you all know the one...."if you go down to the woods today, you in for a big surprise" I must say our resident trail builder has gone above and beyond with this section. Like I've said before, we shall keep adding tracks, until we have the most varied and fun single loop in the JHB region. See you on the trails!!!
  22. Hi All We are so happy to be recieving such positive comments with regard to the trails. We are however taking the negative/constructive comments very seriously. Within a short time period, we wil have no oncoming traffic, we are in the process of cutting trails to eliminate this. I agree with the sentiment that under no circumstances will rding without a helmet be tolerated. Why should everyone elses ride have to come to a stop to help the selfish oke whose landed on his bare head. Officials will be removing anybody riding without a helmet from the property. With regards to parking at the security gate, it doesnt have to do with security but rather environmental and aesthetics, in that AEL do not want a hundred odd cars all over there lawn. However it might change in the future and we will keep you posted. We are planning a kiddies track, that will be accessible at the security gate, where parents can park. Parents/minders will be able to see the kids on the track, and the kids will be able to see the parents. Keep an eye out for our website, which shall be launched during the course of May, I will notify all via this thread. As always we look forward to you guys enjoying the trails, please pm me suggestions and comments. Regards Ricky
  23. Hi All Thanks to all those that came out to the park over the weekend. Grant and I had an awesome time chatting to the riders and getting a feel for what everyone wants. As most would have experienced, Saturdays track was soft in certain areas, however after the rain on Saturday evening, Sunday's track was amazing. Things to look put for in the not too distant future: Bike Wash facility - it will be setup at the sports fields/parking area. Annual/Multi-Entry Passes - This will become availbale as soon as our office in the clubhouse is open. Weekday Entry - We are in discussions about how and when the park will be open from Monday to Friday. This will obviously be easily achieved once the multi-pass entries become available. What we can promise is that the course is by no means complete, we have already planned and decided on various single track routes, within the course of the next two months, we will be at a stage where there shall be no oncoming traffic. The problem with building tracks during summer is that as we build certain sections and move on, a week down the line those previousy cut tracks have grown over. This is why certain sections had a grassy surface. We will be cutting that grass and in certain places removing it completely. We would also like to setup a "Design Your Own Course" on the trailflowsports.co.za website, whereby winners of the design course will get a prize and that course shall be built at the park. Keep an eye out for this feature on the website. We got great feedback from two trail runners, who were the first to set foot on the trails. We look forward to hosting some running events, and definitely a duatholon or two during the course of the year. The track will grow substantially, and will be altered on a regular basis. We are going to be working on a short kiddies track. This track will be easily accessible for moms and dads who are not riding, enabling them to keep an eye on the youngsters. It will in all likelyhood be situated at the very beginning of the main track, just inside of the security gate, and within walking distance for the folks. We will be open on the upcoming public holidays, being Friday and Tuesday. I look forward to seeing you all there Ricky
  24. Alright sorry if it was a bit vague. It is R40 to ride. It will be 35km route, it is a mixture of jeep and single track. There is 24hr security patrols on the land, as well as a security gate that you will enter to get to the trails. The course has been designed and implemented by Grant Nathan of Teak, so expect some great cycling. Any other queries?
  25. Hi Everyone Please stop stressing about routes and directions. The parking is at the clubhouse due to requirements and safety. We will have an office up and running there where annual and multi day passes can be bought. This will be enacted during July when the clubhouse is fully functional. Once parked, paid and indemnity forms signed, you will follow marking s to the entry of the trail. Think of it as a 1.8km warmup. It will be clearly marked. Once you get to the security gate, you will have you pass checked and attended to by an official, and from there you will be allowed to enter the trails. Enjoy.
