  1. Is there anyone who can send me 2018 W2W gpx files? I want to try and load them on my trainer and see whether i can ride it prehand
  2. Entering W2W Pinotage event but have to choose accomodation. Need to decide between the luxury tents and maybe other accomodation close by. Anyone chose the luxury tents in the past? What is it like eg what makes it luxury? I cant find any reference or pictures online.
  3. Thanks! Makes sense, but i called KLM yesterday, They say if i can keep dimensions of the box below 158cm then i can check it in as "suitcase" otherwise i need to pay 100EUR extra as long as dimensions are below 300cm. So guess thats what i will aim for. Managed to get 2 softcases which someone will borrow us which i presume is within specs. Now i just need to practice to remove RD and handlebars ect. Should be easy...
  4. Thanks, i get everything you say except for the rotors. Why would i want to remove them? They are on the wheel and not the frame right? I didnt think of RD though but it should be fairly easy... Can just get a bikeshop to put in back together if i screw something up.
  5. Your total measurement comes to 301cm Hope they allow it.
  6. Hey all, Im planning to come do the W2W in Oct and will bring my mtb along. Ive been trying to check on how that can be done in the most practical way and so far ive heard the following (pls let me know if this is BS and whether you have any hacks i should rather do): - With KLM i need to pack the bike in a bikebox which is limited to 300cm in dimension. - Ive been told that 29" mtb dont fit in a hard box thus a soft shell is my only option. 1. I dont understand how to calculate the 300cm dimension requirement, is it as simple as W+L+B ? Would most bike boxes fit into these dimensions? 2. What would i need to do to pack and protect my mtb the best? eg remove wheels, pedals and ....?
  7. I did the W2W many years ago and since then moved to another country. Just seen that there are still entries available for all 3 events for 2019 whereas it would normally be completely sold out long beforehand. Is there a reason as to why its not sold out? The cost is not that much higher than prev years.. Has anyone done the luxury tents before? Is it worth it? We did standard tents the last time, but some comfort would be nice.
  8. Im currently staying in Denmark, so my rides can vary with mud and snow, which i guess impacts my chain life. On my roadbike i get 2500km plus, mtbike not so much...
  9. I wash my bike after almost every ride, my cassett and chain is clean so cannot be that. I, going for the chainring as most ppl has advised
  10. Im running 1x11, cannondale spidering 32t in front, 10-46 xt at the back with xtr rear deralieur. Chain basically brand new, cluster approx 800km. New 2nd hand chainring which should have been as new..... Sound coming more from the front. My BB was also replaced approx 3 months ago.
  11. I bough the chainring 2nd hand from someone claiming its only done 150km and fitted it approx 500km ago. Will be a bummer if its worn out.
  12. Ok, i normally replace my chain approx every 800km or before my chain checker gets to 0,75. My rule of thumb is 2 chains on a cassette, and 2 cassettes to a blade (in front). So ive changed my 2nd chain on a cassette/blade combination. But now it makes a griding noise, but only when i stand on the pedals and put some pressure on. Does this mean i need to change chain, cluster and blade? Chain checker is approx 0,60 and there is no skipping on my gears. The local bikeshop said couple of weeks ago that my chain just need to adjust to the rest but its been 3 weeks and 250km later and still no change. Any advice? I can change the chain and cassette myself but not the blade, that has to be done at a bikeshop.
  13. Good question and i dont have a good answer. We looking at a 4 day stage race in Poland in june again 6 day race in july. Im really working on getting my weight down now, and always see the pros on carbon wheels. I guess its a combo of weight and stiffness which results in more direct power going into fwd motion? Why would anyone go for carbon wheels otherwise?
  14. Can see i need to research more. Its a Scalpel SI 3 2017 model, currently with ztr crests. I have no clue what you all mean with hub engagement... i do however know that rear is AI offset but again have no clue whether its easy the adapt an existing wheelset for that. It makes it quite difficult to order wheels over the internet then, seems i would have to go to a shop/wheel builder and discuss first?
