  1. We currently have an awesome display of some of our bikes, outside the pick n pay at Fourways Crossing. If you in the area or shopping there please stop in and say hello. looking forward to seeing you. Cheers
  2. Hey, so the store is sitting at about 95 percent completion now, just waiting on the final few fixtures and displays to arrive. If you in the area today come pop in and say hi, I will be here all day. Just ask for me, Dylan and i will come see you. The store really is looking good and our team and variety is definately going to turn a few heads and attract more and more people. hope to see you all soon.
  3. Before pic After pic
  4. So i got a little bit of feedback today and we going to set things in motion, looking at other sponsors and approaching them, by the sounds of things our head office is keen to do this, a little more persuation and its done. very good news. so now we start planning, courses, divisions, layout, protection, eats, drinks, everything in between. this is very exciting news, i have only ever heard of Criteriums, never been to one and now i get to design and put together something for you guys. any ideas welcome and i will siv through them and mould it into shape. cheers
  5. Spoke to some guys to do, definitely price matching is the first and biggest route we going to take now, i understand we in the same community yet pay different prices. I will start more than likely on monday and start doing some shopping around and getting our prices right. looking forward to seeing more and more of you in store, thanks again all those who have come in and said hi, really appreciate it.
  6. yeah do that but remember im doing night shifts at the moment to complete everything, im in from about half four in the afternoon and leave around eight the next morning
  7. The store is taking shape now, busy putting in the final touches, the opening display is going in now and should be complete by friday. then we ready to rock and roll. come in and have a look at our extensive range of products and goodies.
  8. Definitely will do, i know first response has been good so far, i just miss all the rest with me working night shift at the moment but i should be back to day either from saturday or early next week then i can really get things going and start putting pressure where i need to. good response so far from you guys, thank you
  9. ha ha na not blazed just really pissed lol. was a 21st. sheesh.
  10. For those of you in johannesburg area that havent already, go check out my sportsmans warehouse criterium thread under events. chow
  11. well this is in my letter that has gone to head office, im pushint this as much as possible and very sure we will be up and running soon. Bootleggers definitely have to do our watering point lol. 1. SA does not have many Criterium’s and therein lies the appeal. I believe there is a real opportunity to get a really interesting product off the ground. In line with SWH’s increased investment into the sport, this may provision an interesting way to launch the Fourways specialist cycling store. 2. The Criterium’s appeal is the fact that they are fast, technical, tough and exiting to participate in and watch. Races are only an hour reducing the boredom and hassle factor significantly for spectators. Unlike normal races where competitors are only seen at the start and finish (usually whizzing by) the entire race is viewable for all. The breaks, tactics, sprints .....all make for exiting entertainment 3. Utilise the 4WXing car park as a venue – It is large enough to make an interesting track and offers ample parking supported by centre ablutions 4. The events could either be run in the evenings or on Sun afternoons. My initial idea is to run a series of say 5 races with cumulative times and points being summed for the series winners. This will incentivise a longer term commitment. The series could be run over an 12 week period with racing taking place ever second Sunday. (see pt 6) 5. Use the events to attract cyclists and their families to the venue and to build support for the participating brands: a. SWH – Tile sponsor with the finish line in front of the shop. SWH could provide tech support for riders and offer race day specials on equipment and kit. Prize giving could be inside the new cycling section b. Floyd’s – Secondary sponsor with the start line directly outside the shop. We would manage the music, race marshals and give away prizes c. Toys R Us – Kids play corner d. Bottega – Food e. FWXing – Venue and the race infrastructure – Bails, route tape (where required)... 6. One of the challenges is how to divi-up and position the racing. My suggestion would be to have an elite men’s, elite ladies, vets men, vets ladies and open seeded category. Price money for the cumulative best times, most points, most intermediate sprints ...could be compiled to give everyone other than individual race day winners something to aim at
  12. Yeah im busy hunting for a venue for something like that, will take some hard work and hours preparing, but my dad and myself built one a few years back when i was still in durbs, and that was amazing, some very technical sections and awesome drops etc. held a good couple huge events there before moving onto the next location. was brilliant
  13. We already have permission from centre management so now its just the planning and organising. i will keep this thread up to date with any progress made
  14. And thanks for your comments, this is exactly why i have joined and asked.im not looking for the good feedback, thats obviously an area we just need to maintain, im looking for the critics, so they can say what the problems are or where we can improve and i can work on that. so thank you
  15. ha ha yes, we currently running a promotion on livestrong exercise equipment, Treadmills, indoor training bikes and elliptical machines, but the only way forward is on a bike, in the bush with nothing but single track and the birds chirping, oh yeah
  16. yeah its something i have to work on and do competitive pricing. its exactly the same as buying milk from spar or pick n pay, the 2 shops sell exactly the same milk, but priced differently? you guys can do individual pricing on certain items, and we will be cheaper on some and more expensive on others. its unfortunately how the world is run. but it is something i am woring on and you guys can expect the same prices or cheaper in the month or so to come. we also do price matching in store, so if you find things cheaper somewhere else, i can match to 15 percent lower. just thought you should know. obviously it cant be to a sale price, has to be there normal pricing.

  20. Guys go have a look at my other thread "sportsmans warehouse Criterium" and let me know what you think or have any input. Cheers
  21. Hi folks. So what do you think of us at sportsmans warehouse and Fourways Crossing hosting a Criterium??? Still playing around with some ideas but would probably consist of about a 2.5km-3km course where you will do laps for an hour plus one lap. we would have different categories, eg ladies, mens, vets, jnr and open. hold it over a couple weeks, sunday afternoons when the carpark and surrounding is empty. get a few sponsors involved, have some food stands, beer tent is a must, some jumping castles and things for the kiddies to be entertained with and we all have some good fun? let me know your thoughts. Cheers
  22. Yeah we have extended from 2300 squares to now 3100 squares making us the biggest sporting retailer in the southern hemisphere. we have a whole range of the Giro, about 8 different pairs, ranging from R1200 right up till R2200, so you would have to be more specific or just come in and browse, trust me its worth your time. the shop is looking immaculate and we should be ready after this week
  23. Yeah we do, R900.
  24. yeah and we not 100 percent complete yet, our clothing range for cycling has hardly arrived, we have first ascent and about 30 percent of capestorm, we still need to recieve our whole range of craft clothing, and all other accessories as well. we going big.
  25. Yeah we dont have that lol, and i do take the guys out on a thursday morningto ride. planning on getting more time and taking them individually on a longer, more technical ride to show them what its actually all about. untill their asses are bruised, wrists are sprained, body aching and bleeding maybe some teeth missing and a few broken bones, thats what its all about. ha ha might sound harsh but hey its what all of us have been through. They will never know how anything works, or how important a good set of gloves are or the importance of having spare tyres, pump etc, untill they have done it all. thats my goal.
