  1. What are there steep hills on the spruit? I ride there everyday and have not come across them. There are sections on the Spruit with adequate visibility, then you can ride as fast as you want. When visibility decreases you have to adjust your speed and keep left to prevent any unnecessary near misses. SIMPLE.... It works for me. And I get to greet everyone and even help those who a have lost their way or broken down. I get my 40km in a day - some days quicker than others depending on time and traffic. But hey it is an awesome ride right on my door step. It could be worse...... I only ride and treat others as I would expect them to do to me.
  2. I Check my pressures before every ride and use a foot pump if air needed. "touch wood" - never had a puncture yet that required a CO2 top up.
  3. What I read in a bike magazine recently is that if the sealant has an ammonia base it can harden when using a CO2 cartridge. Seems you need to get a sealant that is not ammonia based. I believe Stan's is one that's compatible with CO2 cartridges. I have Stan's but have not yet used a CO2 cartridge. "touch wood" Hoping that it is so....
  4. Try Sports Basement in Woodmead. Lots of stock for up to 40% off.
  5. Now if it was a real bear everyone would have scattered and there would have been no problem seeing the moonwalking bear. A guy dressed in a bear outfit does not count.
  6. Gonna have a lot of surprised riders at their next long distance race when they do 50 km plus in more than 4 hours and don't understand WHY!!! I do however feel sorry for those that were incorrectly diverted. Not their fault. Huge, huge mess to sort out for race office.
  7. So there may be someone out there who is actually the overall winner and we may not even know it. Cool.
  8. Quickly checked the A5 finishers. First three don't have a seeding and finished 18/27/39 respectively. The 4 th A5 finisher finished 41st in time 2:30. ( this same finisher has a seeding index of 76 and did the Hakahana the week before in a time of 4:28 for the 40km) DEFINITELY ON EPO. The fifth A5 finisher has a seeding index of 5 and is a M Elite rider finished in 2:36. This is definitely the first A5 finisher. The first 4 clowns should be scrapped. Hope they feel good about their times!!!
  9. Was there a stand selling "GO FAST EPO" tablets at the EXPO. Seems I missed that stand.
  10. Just checked the results. Racetec have taken all A8 and A7 out of the results. Moved up to 201 overall with a 2:54. JUSTICE TO THOSE THAT SLOGGED IT OUT!!!!!
  11. We have their names! Race office needs to do a history profile on them to see if their previous results match up to their times. If not - they need to be tarred and feathered and placed before a firing squad!!!!
  12. I count at least 30 A8/A7 riders in the first hundred places! Surely there should not be so many. That must have been one fast group!
  13. I would also not choose to. The USADA process followed is flawed. It is clear no matter what action taken they are hell bent on proving doping took place. No consistency in applying the rules. Just my opinion. In the end what happens happens and everyone will have their own views. If you are a LA fan you will defend him no matter. No fan you will find all the ammo to persecute.
  14. We need to cross examine the witnesses. No cross- examination. No credibility. LA come to South Africa. Run for President. You got my vote.
  15. I get you. My position would not have been different. I have more than 23 years law enforcement experience within the South African Government Agencies ( SAPS and Directorate of Special Operations ( SCORPIONS)) I have investigated high profile cases and have had my cases presented in our courts. Many of them have been murder cases. Rules of evidence remain the same no matter where it is presented and what the charge is. If you read my reply, and I stand to be corrected, it seems these 26 witness accounts are all individual accounts with no incident been witnessed by more than 1 witness at any given time. Your example implies more than 1 witness say the SAME incident. Different story. To further add : these witnesses who have given statements and testified were never cross examined by the Defense. The strength of the witnesses testimony is determined on how well it stands up to cross examination. These are factors the Prosecution weighs up before they decide to prosecute. If their witnesses testimony is not sound they will not waste the courts time.
  16. Whose subpoena? And to who did they testify? See my post earlier. Their testimony to a Special Grand Jury obviously was not deemed reliable or credible as the Federal Prosecution decided not to prosecute. That normally means that there was insufficient evidence.
  17. 26 people can say you did something, it does not mean you are guilty! If there was any substance to these 26 so called "witnesses" testimonies then why did the Federal Prosecutors drop the investigation in February? The FBI, Dept of Justice and USPS Inspector General formed a task team to investigate LA. They even had these witnesses testify before a special Grand Jury. After all this and 2 years of investigation they dropped the case. WHY? They could not prove the case against LA by using the established rules designed to ensure the reliability and credibility of evidence. 26 people can say you did something but there needs to be corroboration. From what I have read, and I stand to be corrected, it seems that there was always only one of these 26 present when making these allegations. Never 2 or more present. So the " single witness" rule to prove credibility comes into play. Adding to that there is no physical evidence to corroborate ( no positive lab results or tests, even though he was tested over 500 times) these witnesses , and these witnesses admitted to committing an offense but they were never charged criminally themselves it is clear there are holes in these allegations. I am a huge LA fan and am disappointed as to what has happened but to me the fact that the Federal Prosecution dropped the investigation due to lack of evidence far outweighs the findings of a Civilian body as the USADA. I will still wear my Livestrong kit at races with pride.
  18. Some lung busting climbs and mind blowing descents with views from Harties Once the route is out when can we go ride it?
  19. How far do you normally ride? How does it handle mud?
  20. Now this is starting to get confusing. So far there has been 7 different lubes recommended. Are they all that good? One of my Buddies is a regular top 10 finisher in the marathon races and he swears by Squirt for the dry races and Motorex wet lube for the wet races. Would the way you ride determine what type of lube is best suited for your bike when it comes to a serious racer or a social rider?
  21. Is this the stuff you order online? I read an article about it a few months ago. Do you know who stocks it?
  22. I was thinking of using chain saw oil but that is answered in your reply. This is obviously not applicable to SA ito the lube service at filling stations. I would not want any attendant going near my bike. Have you seen those township bikes?
  23. Maybe we should get Karma to reply? He seems to be the expert on those matters!
  24. I will try those you have suggested. Any of those good for wet and dry or is the consensus wet 1 type of lube and dry another? How about longivety? On a 70 km ride would I need to relube?
