  1. So I have been away from cycling for a good while now, must be close on 10 years. Now getting back into it and hoping my daughter is going to enjoy it as much as I do. I started browsing the interweb and I must say I’m pretty shocked. No more ROAG, no more Hill2Hill, what has happened. ROAG was awesome, easy to see upcoming events and plan which races were up next, Hill2Hill was my first big race I ever did, I managed to finish in over 9 hours if I remember correctly, it was an absolute killer for me just starting out, but the sense of accomplishment at the finish made every drop of sweat worth it, a year later I finished in a little over 5 hrs and that feeling of knowing how much you’ve improved was unbeatable. Sorry I am babbling on here, but what has happened to the sport in kzn, where do we go to sign up for races, will Hill2Hill be coming back?
  2. When I started out, coming from motorbikes, I believed there was only one way to go and that was duel sus. I’ll be honest, my learning curve would have been a hell of a lot shorter if I had gone with a better spec’d HT for the same money. I am now on a HT and ride all the gnarly trails I can handle and honestly never miss the rear suspension. Unless you are doing big drop offs and big jumps I’d say go hard tail 29er, you won’t be sorry.
  3. He was found in the plantations at about 1am, his wife says he is ok and recovering at the medi clinic. Glad he is ok, he is a really nice guy!
  4. My new baby, Just in time for Hill2Hill
  5. That is just Ridiculous!!!
  6. Depends on the bike you putting it on, but a few things you need to check are... For the Forks 1) steerer type (straight or tapered) 2)Thru axle or Quick release 3) travel (how much you want vs how much is recommended for your frame) 4) If you buying second hand double check what length the steerer has been cut to to make sure it will work for you. For the rear shock 1) eye to eye length 2) stroke/travel length Some of the more clued up guys here may have some more in put but thats all I can think of for now. as for the lockout each shock/fork is specific to their own, best to google the one you are looking at.
  7. And on a final note (doubtful)... If you are in front of me on the single track and wont get out my way.... be prepared on the next corner for a brake check! STRAVA FOR LIFE!
  8. There is a common problem I find with any form of text communication be it email/chat forums/IM's etc. you cannot pick up on the tone the poster is typing in whether it be in jest, sarcasm, utter seriousness or out right obnoxious, causing these threads to escalate rather quickly. which in turn actually makes them quite fun...
  9. Eish sorry man that sucks! Hope he heals up sharp
  10. I must say, I am enjoying this playful witty banter on a TUESDAY afternoon, sure as hell beats working!
  11. Its all starting to make sense... this is why you don't like the guys who are fast on the technical stuff
  12. Sheesh and its not even Friday
  13. Then why am I trying to pass them if they are better?
  14. Like I said, you are racing against your own time, If it is a long section of single track and you are gonna hold someone up throughout, its not really fair when it would just take half a second off your time to let the faster rider passed thereby letting him have a good run at it and you not being pressured continually...
