  1. apparently Burry shouldn't get his or anybody elses hopes up for medal position tomorrow, the news giant that is news24.com has announced our last and final chance of adding some bling lays on the shoulders of Hendrik Ramalaa in the marathon, not withstanding his years best time ranks him 28th out of the 100 odd runners. I for one think Burry can hack it give Sauer and the frenchie a surprise...
  2. Fandacious, would you want it any other way??
  3. no doubt have always been a problem will always be in countries where nationalist pride does not have a price. but a simple rule such as sixteen or nothing will never stop the above mentioned, not in countries where your entire life history and existance can be altered by a keystroke.
  4. Shaun's German's must be a hard act to beat ( no pun intended) of course always have had a crush on Allison Stokke, non olympian not withstanding! On the other hand there are unfortunate photo's that always see the light of day, no less so than Swedish archery ace Sara Boberg.http://www.splattermail.org/ DO NOT OPEN THIS LINK at work, in presence of any other women, children or drunk friends!
  5. man I can get all kinds of amnesties for blowing this conspiracy wide open.
  6. PHONE Essop, we found the seed of evil!
  7. I agree with you Sean that the rules were probably broken and that should/would lead to disqualification if proven. the age limits in gymnastics were not set because of power / weight advantage that would the same as disqualifying Miguel Endurain for having above average long capacity, it was purely based on athletes in the USSR / central asia being pushed to breaking point at a stupidly young age, backed with physiologic problems that might be prevelant if pushed that hard at such a young age. as for being arbitary, I stick to it, it has changed nothing, those athletes are still being pounded at the same rate from four, five years old, so if a rule doesn't change the problem you were aiming to solve, whats the point of the rule then.... arbitary. Nadia Comaneci, 14 years old, first ever to get perfect 10.... six times in one Olympics, should we rather give those medals to the silver medalist that was two years older......
  8. what a grap, they have a fake singer, digital fireworks, 52 ethnic groups represented by two majority groups and now this. so what if the girl is 14, as for being more flexible as being a advantage.... how much more flexible do they want! no one cares, true it might be a rule, but a very arbitary one at it.
  9. not worried about the quality, coughing up R5000 for a wheelset is a bit of cash, have no idea what the XTR set goes for, weight wise pretty similar, not sure in the dt swiss range what compares between the xtr and xc one
  10. these xc one's are a mystery to me, does no one have a set on their bike???
  11. you boys have any thoughts on the Easton XC one disc wheelset, posted before but no one had any comments..... that bad??
  12. yep, so your price is pretty much at cost.
  13. Thats a great price if it's the SLX, they basically selling it at cost to you then! doubt you'll find a better deal.
  14. Easton EC90 SLX will probably retail for about R4100-R4400.
  15. how do you suggest contacting people when you don't have their emails/ phone number??? hence a business card. It just happen to be that Zorgus was probably part of the group last night, if everyone had their hub name put on their bumperstickers your plan would work. And yes now I can actually pm him, because I know they were there. think before you post!
  16. assume it must have been your group then, did you guys drive in with three vehicles and ride from the gate? if so I left a business card under the red vw wiper, didn't have pen so could write a message. post when you will be cruising through there again
  17. zorgus how often do you do night rides in Jonkershoek? a group of about four were there last night ( 20th ) would like to join in if possible
  18. Our man on the small wheels are through to the semi's, winning his heat today in Beijing! If only Burry can zip through his, cycling might get some attention. Well done.
  19. Anyone who knows the Easton XC one disc wheels? any thoughts on quality, weight limits, etc etc...
  20. Anybody knows what the current thought are on Carbon hardtail MTB's vs Aluminium's? Always a massive price difference, but is it worth it??? Also can't find any worthwhile reviews comparing the two.
  21. linnega I totally agree with the premise of what your saying, problem is this is not a " non-issue" as you call it. To keep the old cliche out of it two wrongs don't make a right was not the point I was getting at, neither was shut up and accept bad driving. The problem is there's 99% of motorist who are willing to accomodate cyclist on the road, by having the attitude of " you behave then I behave" you will soon add another few percent of motorist who doesn't care. And like it or not numbers here are not in your favour, so go ahead and ride four abreast and skip the lights. Just keep in mind your 7kg super-carbon fiber means ditto against 2000 kg of steel.
  22. This might get some peoples blood boiling, as it should. I have been cycling for sixteen years, ten of which I spent on the tar. We hear about hit & run's and reckless driving every day and I dread the day a car takes me out. But, there is much to say about reckless and maverick cyclists, who treats the roads like they own it. Every single day especially in summer there's a group of six strong cruisng through Stellenbosch on the R44 shoulder to shoulder, for those who don't know, Stellenbosch is not some sleepy hollow with 50 cars and 200 people, and the R44 has no shoulder in the town section. Half past six in the morning is not the best time to cruise with your buddies all lined up with hundreds of cars pouring out of town heading to Cape Town. These hanchos also have no reservations about dishing out gestures and verbal exchanges if they feel their space was intruded. Stop streets and robots are also optional extras for this clan, setting a exceptional example for all, but the first to complain about a taxi stopping in the middle of nowhere, where it was clearly not allowed. I have had a few run in's with this said group, one getting quite heated, after failing to notice my bikerack on the roof of my car, and accusing me of not having a clue what I was talking about. I carefully pointed out to the general of the group, I have probably spent more time on a bike than the group combined, and my dismay is that their self rightous attitude will lead to more motorists not given a damn, and simply clipping you of the road. So shape up, and if your one of these morons who has a chip on the shoulder, don't point fingers when your getting out of the ditch.
