  1. I had the greatest scare going down hels. At about 60km hours the bike started to vibrate almost out of control. Managed to bring it under control. Lost the group... Overheated etc. The rest is blowin in the wind
  2. Shocking! Thats my training ground... Condolences to the families
  3. All I know is that it happened Thuesday afternoon around 15h30 onrus side of Hermanus. When I drove by there were no ambulances as yet. Must have happened a few minutes before I passed by. Later I phoned the ambulance and they said he was taken to Hermanus hospital. When I contacted the hospital they said that they are not allowed to give me (a stranger) any info.
  4. Forgot to add the accident happened on the road into Hermanus from Kleinmond
  5. Morning I searched the Hub but could not find any info on the cyclist that was hit by a car Thuesday afternoon. I phoned the hospital but they are not allowed to give me any info. Does anyone on here know how he is doing? Thx
  6. Apreciate the advise and link!
  7. SwissVan, thanks for the advise. How do you know you are properly hydrated before and what rule should I follow to properly hydrate afterwards?
  8. I have been cycling a while but just casual but now I am more interested in racing. Also I need to mention that I am a roadie. So, there is alot of basics that I need to learn. What better place than on the Hub to ask my question: What is the sufficient amount of fluids that I need to take in while on the bike? When training I always need to plan my rides that I go past a shop to get some extra water etc. I drink on average about 3L on a 100km training ride. Now I want to do 100km+ but the shops are few and far between once I am out of my town. The other thing is that at the recent Burger I stopped at about every waterhole. Thats about a 10min stopping in total. My aim is a sub3 100km, and 10min is alot of time wasted. What does the pros do? Not talking about teams with a support vehicle. Just the competitive cyclist that takes part in the leagues. They go on 2 bottles the whole race?
  9. Thanks everyone for the well wishes and advise regarding the helmet replacement. Man, I was just finding that sweet spot where the motivation, weightloss etc came together... Now this Just need to pick myself up again and go for it. After the helmet replacement. For those who required pics...
  10. Came down hard of the bike today. About 500m from home on a nice downhill section of the road. A bug flew into my mouth as I tried to get this thing out of my mouth, I lost concentration. The front wheel caught the pavement... And down I went on a nice rocky patch. Big bang against the head, some eina bruises down the leg, bib ruined, scratches on the bike frame. But alive to fight another day, thanks to my helmet.
