  1. BTW madaboutmerida, the winning time is 1 minute, not 1 hour, so that makes the average 3600km/h... which is not half bad for a MTB!
  2. No Speed Devil no road race, coenie is referring to MTB races. They have been running each weekend for a while. The seeding matters on MTB races as well, cause you don't want to get stuck behind slower riders on singletrack, etc. So the problem is MTBers are paying their subs to PPA but not getting service for it!
  3. Besides... 50% of riders will know the regulation and the other half will not have read the signs, so it may turn out to be more dangerous. Everyone will think they have right of way and common-sense will go out the window and then whoever survives the crash will take their broken carbon handlebar and try to stab the other party! Unless it's a DH'er crashing into a whippet... then the whippet will be dead. TreeDodger2009-08-30 06:29:25
  4. I see there is apparently a thread on who has right of way, up or down, but I don't have time to read it now. I ride up single track in Tokai often, but it is easy to hear if someone is coming down long in advance and then you pull over, this is as logical as peanut-butter to me. Why on earth would the up rider have right of way, what possible reason could there be!? Case in point is the up rider knows about the down rider in advance but not vice versa, so why would the down rider give way if he/she/it cannot see who to give way to until its too late! I believe it's quite safe to ride up as long as you are vigilant and stay away from danger spots like the berm at 2 on the map. Regulation sounds like something the first world will do who's worried about health and safety. Bit of freedom to do what you want is always cool...
  5. cool cool... any chance you could post picture when it's done?
  6. Mr Thug, can you post details of your battery holder and charging circuit?
  7. According to Cape Mail all the RA tracking numbers from hong kong are missing. Looks like a whole shipment was sent to Mars or something. DX is talking to me, telling me to wait but now they say they are trying to trace the package through hong kong mail, tracking results should be available this week, will post what they say when I hear from them. I have subsequently had about 4 orders arrive safely, just the RA numbers which went walkies... TreeDodger2009-08-17 02:19:11
  8. Just to put it out there: http://www.enduroforkseals.com/. This would involve shipping and import and the like but they do seem to have all the kits for all bikes...
  9. http://www.ledsupply.com Shipping is a bit expensive $30 or so but they've got lenses and other bits and pieces as well. TreeDodger2009-06-02 03:05:02
  10. Will post beam shots next week... I had to buy 6m aluminium tubing so if anyone wants pieces I'll sell it to you cheap cheap I also have the small tube that the mount clamps onto. TreeDodger2009-04-09 07:10:00
  11. Will post links correctly next time! I used L2 optics Lenses (6 degree): L2-OPTX-1-006 1 x 8 degree diffuser: L2-OPTX-1-DIF8 1 x 16 degree diffuser: L2-OPTX-1-016S The lenses don't actually fit the cree LEDs, I had to machine bits away with a dremel to get it to fit and then glued them on. This is my second light, first one is 3 led. I have only ridden with the 3 led and find myself riding at around 20% power most of the time so that I don't wash out the other guys lights! I have tried both handlebar and helmet and I find a strong light on the helmet is all I need. I am doing the stargazer race in Montagu this weekend and will use the 2 led one evening and the 3 led the next. Will report next week but I am sure the 2 led will be plenty strong. The 3 led is a bit heavy so I hope the 2 led will be more comfortable. I bought the mounts from edina about 8 months ago and the shipping was $10 then so very reasonable.
  12. Here is my 2 cree Q5 bin light. I built a 3 led version as well but found that mounted on my helmet 2 is plenty. I'm using a 3023-D-E-1000 Wired BuckPuck from www.ledsupply.com All glued together with pratley steel. The led stars are glued with thermal compound to 32x32 aluminium square tube and the lenses are enclosed by 32mm round tube. Have a look here for Marwi light mounts. I bought some helmet and handlebar mounts and they work well: http://edinabike.com/page.cfm?PageID=62&action=details&sku=LT7419 http://edinabike.com/page.cfm?PageID=62&action=details&sku=LT7540 Currently using a 4Ah nimh battery with a charger I built myself (based on a MAX713 smart charger IC). This was actually the biggest hassle, I will try the 18560's from deal extreme. The light is not finished yet, need to seal the whole thing up... and get a bolt to attach the mount to the light!
  13. This may just be me but how is doing something criminal and then getting caught someone's "misfortune" and "we have all made mistakes"? This is what is wrong with SA, we like to complain about everyone else breaking the law... because when we do it it's not that serious?
