  1. Went and saw both bikes, Momsen frame is hot cakes. Bought the Scott though. I preferred the I-spec XT parts on the Scott, the remote lock out, basically all the bits besides the frame, haha. The Momsen was also R4000 more, not that that swayed my decision though. Just felt like the Scott was a better package, better bits bolted to the frame.
  2. Had my 940 for 2 years without any problems. It really is an awesome bike. Good price too...
  3. Concerned that the Vipa does have remote lockout and 80mm rear travel...
  4. Care to share your LBS details?
  5. I never had an issue, just bought my wife a 710 last week. Figure Scott must be one of the top selling brands in SA so one can expect a few complaints. Never heard of anyone not getting a replacement frame under the warrantee, which speaks louder than the actual issue.
  6. Premium is R58k not R40k. What did you pay for your premium?
  7. Came off a Scott Spark and really loved it. Heard loads of complaints about broken Sparks and heard they really hold their warrantee. Also Spark has the twin lockout which I like. Vipa is SA product and very pretty. Any Cannondales in this price range?
  8. Any opinions on these 2 bikes? I like the lockout on the Scott but the Vipa looks so hot. What else should I look at at the R40k mark?
  9. Love your way of writing, brilliant. Can't wait for next installment.
  10. Ok great, will start shopping tomorrow for all the bits and pieces. Any idea where is the best place to get it all from? What do you think a carbon frame would cost from Scott Agents, assuming they still have 26" frames?
  11. Ok so I will change the seat post, bars and stem. What's next? Cranks are 100g but R2k, what about cassette? What else?
  12. I will start with the bars, stem and seat post first. I suggested buying here a new carbon bike but she says she is comfortable on hers and doesn't want to change so close to Sani2c. How much weight could I save with the cassette?
  13. Did a bit of weighing in the garage. Bike as is 11.8kg Stock Deore crank with M520 pedals 1247g Stock XT crank with M520 pedals 1147g (XT off my Spark 940) M520 pedals alone 374g Seat and seat post 540g Not sure if the upgrade to XT crankset is worth 100g... I was hoping to save another kg off the bike but I'm not sure that is possible anymore...
  14. Fork has been changed to Rockshox Reba Duel Air. When I pick up the bike it's light, but it just feels heavy low down, like the cranks weigh a ton or possibly the cassette. If changing the cassette, should I look at going 10 speed?
