  1. Like Cavendish, Froome also needs to find greener pastures! Was such an epic fail last year when he put his foot down and left Wanko in his dust all to be called back to support him when it would have done nothing to overall results. Poor form team sky!
  2. And that is the point of the debate - to get the signage on these routes to overrule the IMBA rules because they just make no sense.
  3. It's not that my theory runs dry, it's just that I prefer to not have a stop-start ride down when I had to work so hard to get to the top. No reward for all your hard work and enjoy free-flowing downhill kinda defeats the purpose. Same principle applies to runners.
  4. I haven't seen those, but I think better signage is the best and only way to avoid confusion. In my mind, someone going down a single track at 30km/h should get preference over someone going up at 10km/h. It seems a lot easier to stop and move over if you going slower, and if there are runners, then the same principle should apply as you can hear and see someone coming down so just move to the side...plus you get the bonus of not losing speed when you come down
  5. Just waiting to get my bike back from repairs and then I may just join you for one of these rides. Will have to cut the ride short at Rhodes mem and head back to do that work thing.
  6. You will have a blast! You should also include some of the trails in Grabouw and out stellies way!
  7. If it is a general statement and there is enough space then I guess it does make sense to go around. Just a word of advice...if you ever ride Tokai right of way is given to peeps going down as it is a lot easier to stop and move over with going a lot slower. If you do a search you will also find quite a bit of venting towards MTB'ers going up single track and not moving over
  8. You clearly haven't seen the single tracks we work with here in CPT...
  9. Good idea and I think the R180 000 fine or 9 years imprisonment should also hopefully be a good deterrent!
  10. Thanks for the update. Please continue with the updates so we can all know what happens and what kind of precedent is set.
  11. "There are many other factors, none of them influenced by EPO...They include the blood lactate threshold, which determines the point at which muscles tire; work economy, which is the efficiency of the metabolic system to convert energy into movement; increased cardiac volume; and the quantity of muscle mass available for sustained power production." Would all of these factors pointed out not be reduced/improved by increased oxygen uptake and transfer throughout the body? I am no Dr. but I am pretty sure all exercise related fatigue is attributable to your bodies ability to uptake and efficiently use oxygen?
  12. I think you point out the exact reason for the outcry by cyclists.for safer roads. Drivers are becoming more reckless to all kinds of road users (other drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, runners, etc.) and absolutely nothing is being done. A prime example is pedestrian crossings...there is no way you can cross one of those now days if there is a car coming! If there isn't a robot at the crossing cars won't stop for you even though they will be held accountable... As you said, the driving idiots are often the cause of others' pain and often suffer little to no pain themselves.
  13. I must admit that I am seeing more and more cars passing like this in CPT, which is a great thing but I think is going to cause chaos when an accident occurs. THEN of course you get those whose mirrors tap your elbow as they past
  14. Yip, they are breaking the law and by not obeying the rules we are also perpetuating our own negative stigma. I just hope we can all peacefully enjoy the road one day.
