  1. Hey stiffy's dad, First thing to note is that charging onto this site with the proverbial baseball bat is not going to help poor old stiffy one bit. Live and learn with the times.... this is the internet: if you bite them then they will bite back harder. The great thing out a public forum is anything goes, if you don't like it, don't come around. Yes, how you spend your money is 100% your business, but if you then go and advertise it on the net, WELL HELLO, people are going to comment! You don't need very much brain power to work that out. I would bet most of the post on this site are in good humour and made without malice, unlike your heated comments. Hopefully enough said.
  2. Ok, I had a look at the Specialized and you may have a problem with it... The seat stay is carbon while the chain stay is Alu. The carbon will flex more than the Alu and since you are quite big, there is a good chance that you can snap the carbon. Rather stick with a full carbon bike then.
  3. 1 - Raleigh RC7000 cheap, good groupset, but wheels are going to give you problems guaranteed. Be ready to buy better wheels. 2 - Bianchi sounds good? Price??? 3 - No doubt that the Specialized would be my choice in that list.
  4. OH MY GOD! Praise the lord... The ever insightful Marius has spoken and blessed us all with his glorious wisdom. I vote that the next person who quotes that overused and total lame "it's not about the bike" phrase be kicked off the hub for a month.
  5. Hey Kona, This string was never about me, but just had to comment after I saw the direction in which it was heading. I do understand what you are trying to say and do somewhat agree there, but on the flip side of the coin... 1: If the parents can afford it, and want to buy it, why should he feel bad or have to apologize for that??? 2: This is cycling and accidents happen + lady driver admitted it was her fault. 3: Very smart move having bike insurance.... Costs are covered. As for Stiffy, cycling is a tough sport and by the virtue of its nature it can draw the more aggressive natured person... Take the needling and come back stronger! If you don't, it will just reveal a lack of charisma.
  6. Hang on just one second here! Stiffy (sorry boet, don't mean to be rude - but I'm too lazy to bother with your full handle) didn't start this... The old toppies on this site (Kona firstly) started picking on the poor chap and WHAMMO!!!!!!! Next thing everyone has jumped on the bandwagon and has started dishing out parental advise to the youngster. Way too go... Just bully the poor guy and scare him away from the site why don't you. Hope that you all feel really proud of yourselves. Before Kona started, Stiffy was very polite and just looking for some advise for the more "mature" and "educated" members of the board and look what he gets in return for his "faith" in you guys! (The one or two smart comments for Stiffy where most likely just made in the spirit of good / bad humour after you guys started picking on him.) Well done....smileys/smiley32.gifsmileys/smiley32.gifsmileys/smiley32.gifsmileys/smiley32.gifsmileys/smiley32.gif (smell the sarcasim) Personally I think it's disgusting.
