  1. wow, thats awesome!!! and it was the perfect weather too
  2. Thanks Karma and HDW. yeah, the funride sounds cool, 19km, piece of cake lol
  3. LMFAO. I had such a good laugh now, you're funny!! Well....Lets not generalize, not AAALLLLLLL roadies are that way.... "Proper shorts" hahahahahaaaaaaaaaa That's hilarious, my boss MTB's and his shorts are the funniest **** EVA!!!!
  4. I fix up my own mishaps too, wanted to learn all those things before I even started cycling, hate it when guys dont think a lady cant fix a puncture LOL I will admit, it is kinda difficult As for the vermin....I've witnessed some pretty crued things on the hub, but they dont phase me
  5. Well the messages were in connection with a cycle partner to ride with me on the paarden island route in the afternoons after work, for safety reasons. The meet up time is just a slight issue though. No formal group ride invites though, still a beginner anyways so I wouldnt wanna keep people waiting for me, my average speed is getting better now though, between 18-20kmph.
  6. Honestly, I've only received 3 PM's lol
  7. thanks a ton!! will definitely keep it in mind, I'm cycling to work Tue, Wed + Thu... Take a break on Monday's from the long rides over the weekends and Fridays I leave work early so I take my car in then, always nice getting home early on a friday Yup, still coming to terms with it, gonna take me some time to get used to, but I love summer so I cant complain really.. Just sucks when you're riding head on into 40km gusts of wind peddling at your strongest and you're still not really getting anywhere LOL
  8. ja, mmmkay??? lol
  9. Well, I'm a newby and I'd definitely offer a tube up and help where I can!! Think its just about manners and a level of friendliness... Spose you will get the odd sod here n there lol
  10. Well, I've only been cycling for about a month now and I must say, everyone's real friendly and helpful ! I've gotten 3 punctures so far and there have always been "roadies" who wanna help. Roadies aren't "cool", Roadies are AWESOME B) And what's this 'fued' the MTB'ers have against roadies? This is still all quite new to me and I find it quite amusing really
  11. Hey I'm still hesitant on taking the N1 on my own, get some crazy drivers out there so I've avoided that route. I'm still taking the cycle route and very happy that they've fixed the fence! Fortunately, my bf's mom is leaving work earlier in the afternoons now to accompany me for the journey home, safer that way. Still wishing this windy weather would calm down now, it kills me lol
  12. Hey Hairy, yeah Im just gonna have to get used to the wind I guess, no getting round that unfortunately As for my taser being attached to my bike, this thing is quite big lol its a bit heavy too. Plus, I like having it on me incase, like DJR said, I get seperated from my bike at any time, I'll have it at hand and ZAP!! I'll taser the crap outta those mofos the velcro idea would be cool for the pepper spray but ja, better to have it on you as apposed to strapping it to your bike, no point otherwise, those muggers come outta nowhere sometimes...
  13. Thanks for the pic, gonna get some pepper spray this weekend, my tazer is a bit too big to carry, I have to stick it in my jacket sleeve, but its gonna be a problem when its hot and i dont need to wear my long top, dunno where I'd have easy access to my tazer then. Maybe also wanna get one of those small tazers n strap it to my arm somehow. Saw they fixed the fence on Saturday, very pleased about that!! Seems that all the emails to Helen Zille and Cape Talk helped lol Jeez this wind is really getting to me now hey
  14. so true, iv mailed cape talk and keino about this problem, they usually take care of things like this i mailed keino when my boyfriend had to go to somerset hospital cos he isnt on a medical aid and their service was absolutely horendous even after complaining to them. they sorted him out chopchop after that. was very chuffed bout that!
  15. yeah, i cycle with my tazer on me, its a pretty scary looking and sounding thing lol But the problem is I'd have to get within range to use it. where do you get your pepper spray from and how much do you pay for it?
  16. Im sorry, but it IS an issue even if 1 or 2 people have gotten mugged at that same spot, its unsafe for everyone, its not as though it isnt a "big deal"! Its not "alright" to have people being mugged where its meant to be safe!! That fence has been like that for a long time now and its about time that it gets fixed!!
  17. haha awesome, its a small world
  18. thanks for that hairy! I thought I'd let you know that Im Dr Bryan Sher and Dr Harris Smeyatsky's receptionist/manageress in Greenpoint, Dr Smey said I should let you kno
  19. Im gonna be emailing keeno from cape talk today, this issue seems to have been going on for far to long now! they've made this cycling lane for cyclists safety and it seems to now be even more dangerous than the N1, total rubbish!! Im emailing him, he'll sort this out
  20. Thanx, ja I know the cycle lane is there for the safety purposes for cyclists but it's not safe when you're on your own, bigger risks out there than being knocked over. I could be mugged and/or raped, not cool if you ask me
  21. Hahaha that so awesome, yeah, she cycles that route on her own everyday, she hasn't had any bad encounters but I'm a bit more of a wuss I think when it comes to my safety lol She's told me bout that spot where the skollies made a hole in the fence to climb through, it's gonna bother me for a while. My boyfriend n her suggested I cycle the n1 if I'm on my own, I'm still a bit nervous being near vehicles on the road but it sounds safer to me than potentially being mugged or worse :/
  22. That's quite a bumpy ride isn't it? Didn't think of that route, not sure cyclist are allowed through there..?
  23. Yeah on my way home yesterday I didnt see a single cyclist insight but was searching round to see if I could spot any1, didnt have any luck lol I think the woodstock turnoff is quite dangerous but Im quite aware of that and would just be extra cautious over there. I think I'll take the n1 in the meantime, I just think that people in their cars get so uptight with us sometimes it puts me off but hey, tough cookies
  24. Cool beans!! thanx so much
