  1. Thanks Please pm me prices for wipers, rings oil etc.
  2. Ya very steep especially as a student. I send it in to Specialized at Stellenbosch from Cape Town. 50hr service is R700 and 100hr (annual) is R1500. Friend of mine with the exact bike and fork has had to replace stanchions and lowers spent R5k on his fork alone. So we want to rather do the lower service d.i.y so we can change oil more frequently as to minimise damage on stanchion etc from infrequent servicing. The upper legs will just send in to Spec. annually. What size wipers do I need to get, and is it 5/10ml in the lowers? 2012 sid brain Thanks for the help
  3. Warranty covers very little, I've had my bike since October 2012 and spent R4700 on the fork already. (R700 x2 50hr services) and (R3300 to replace stanchions that had scratch on them warranty didn't cover). Tired of being ripped R700 every 50hrs is ridiculous.
  4. Has anyone done the basic 50hr service on their brain fork? Just the simple lower, stanchion clean and oil replacement. From what I've gathered on the net it seems as though you just need to let out the air in + and - remove the 10mm nuts on the lowers tap out the uppers drain the oil, clean/replace wipers, replace oil and bolt lowers and uppers back together. Is there any more to it? (Don't wanna service the brain at all) I do not have an S-Works fork with the brain fade control on the uppers, apparently you have to reset the brain on these forks when you take them apart. If anyone has serviced successfully please comment.
  5. Big corporates are unfortunately concerned rather with their corporate image than the livelihood of exceptional riders. With the Armstrong saga and now this hitting the SA scene there would be few corporates, who would in my opinion, remain in the cycling game with their image at risk through negative publicity. Rather they take, as Nedbank has done, a clear and strong stance against foul play regardless of whether the whole team is involved or not. It is an extremely disappointing day for young potentials such a JR and existing potential KE or any other 360-Life future prospects (provided they are clean). SA cycling MTB in particular has such potential, yet we lack much financial support. Chasing away corporates who pump money into the sport and fund possible developments is the last thing this country needs at this stage. I wouldn't think DG had the financial leverage to bite the hand that feeds him.
  6. Anyone from CPT able to possibly provide a lift back from the race after the event? I'm giving a friend of mine a lift to the race venue on Friday but staying in Prince Albert after the race (Sunday) and he needs to get back for work on the Monday. He's willing to contribute for petrol. Will be much appreciated. Thanks, Jeremy
