  1. Just like the MTB Event, you guys don't do things in half measures .. Travel safe
  2. Has anything been planned for Wed ie time to ride and meeting place? I couldn't ride here at MZNP so am keen to join in a chilled ride and to meet all the peeps
  3. Perfect, thanks Cejay. This is and what Bat posted is what I was looking for .. Cannot wait for this event to only be days away!!
  4. Does anyone know if we are permitted outside assistance at the various checkpoints? I know we are given the boxes for this, but I have a very willing and able significant other coming with me
  5. That is insane. How much time do you have to do that?!? I'll be lucky if I can get in a 3 to 4hr night ride. We have hit our long overdue raining season. I'm keen to test my lights med setting so will need to get my a into g and sort that out. GLW the long ride
  6. My longest "night" ride was about 2hrs lol and I only went out at 18h15. I need to get out when it's a lot darker and a lot quieter to find out what it's like.. .. As for riding alone, in the dark, that's going to be something new. Are the night creatures down there friendly lol
  7. Hi Cejay, I had to laugh as I don't have a race strategy, but rather a ride one .. ????. I haven't ever ridden for 24 consecutive hrs so don't know what my body will do. I would far rather ride rooiberg, in the heat, with a body that is rested rather than one that is tired .. .. And as for the heat, 30deg's is cooler than the 43 we had at last year's berg and bush, plus a monster head wind. If anything, it's going to be fun finding all this out which will make for an interesting ride .. ????
  8. Mad I tell ya lol. Was this weekend part of a 36One simulation scenario?
  9. I'm going to catch 30 winks at halfway .. ????. Thinking is (a) I'll need it and (b) i thought the start of the halfmilers was the same as ours, not 12hrs after us
  10. Hi Cejay, thanks for the reply. I think I'll be a bundle of nerves til I settle into some sort of rhythm during the ride .. I have revised my finished time based on my need to finish before the next night Dall and having fun whole out on the bike
  11. Am such a noob, both on here and for 36One .. I am keen to find out if there are any crazy kzn peeps riding the full event. I'm feeling a bit like a hamster in a wheel, with lots of IDT and a fair amount of LSR. Have yet to do a night ride, to test out the light I have, but still have time for that .. ????
  12. @Eldron, sounds like you found some of course designer, Hylton Turvey's delights .. .. and it is definitely MTB HEAVEN
  13. They have really put a lot of effort into making things work at the ( mtb ) club. While they still have the ever popular karkloof classic and trail blazer to tempt people up into the midlands, to keep them coming back, there are the marked trails and outback sections .. all ridden in
  14. Hey Helpmytrap, if you and the Ms's are wanting to venture out of the concrete jungle and up into the midlands, go check this link out .. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/123557-karkloof-mtb-trails/ - and for those that view this, remember I live in howick and class myself as being "mildly biased" towards the trails in the Karkloof ..
  15. Hey Guys, The Karkloof MTB Club has been hard at work improving on what is arguably now the best single track network in the country. There are permanently marked 10km, 20km, 30km and XCO routes as well as some adventurous "un-marked" outback trails totalling about 65km's of track. Check out the new website at www.karkloofmtb.co.za/trails and the facebook page at http://www.facebook....fMountainBiking The club is also offering a special on annual membership, which allows you to access the trails throughout the year - contact Anita Turvey on anita@dekosa.co.za
