  1. Has any cyclists or (dare I say it) triathletes tried the Airofit or similar respiratory trainer? Probably not for everyone, but perhaps useful for someone who does have some sort of issues with dyspnea. To extend that- has anyone bought one and now no longer uses it? It seems like something that you get for Christmas, use twice and then leave in a random drawer. I'm hoping to buy one of from someone like this- then use also use it twice. Thank you!
  2. I'm buying a bike and trainer from a cyclist in Hartswater, Norther Cape. Having a bit of a hard time verifying that he is indeed a legitimate seller. Thought I'd try my luck here and see if anyone knows a Donald Edward Smith from Hartswater? Long shot, but hey, I've been surprised by the detective skills from this community before. Thanks guys
  3. This is entering the zone of aero-weenie territory, but quite often skinsuits/trisuits don't fit perfectly for tall, skinny athletes. The small ones are too short and the big ones are too baggy. I'm sure many can relate. The question then is if anyone has done or knows of a service in SA to tailor a suit to adjust the fit to the rider? The latest suits have fancy materials and flatlock seams, so probably not a job for the local Edward scissor hands.
  4. In Joburg indeed. I will make the trip to JKM and see what can be done. Thank you!
  5. Will give them a shout and see. Seems like such a pesky little detail to add to a frame design.
  6. I have a Swift Evil Twin full-sus mountain bike frame which I'm trying to build up. It has some clever little threaded inserts for the rear post mount disc brake caliper that are removable and replaceable should you strip them. Now, the frame I bought second hand didn't come with these, so I'm trying to source some. Is this a common thing in MTB's, or likely a proprietary Swift thing for this frame?
  7. Couldn’t agree with you more. All this proprietary crap is really ruining the fun for me
  8. Interesting. I see what you mean. I unfortunately don't have an old Praxis BB, but that sounds like a great solution
  9. No, not standard 30. Praxis uses a stepped BB. 30 drive side and 28 non drive
  10. I've been phoning around like a mad man trying to find a Praxis BB for a standard PF86 frame in Joburg. Does anyone perhaps know of a shop which stocks Praxis stuff? The interwebs has failed me dearly.
  11. Thanks. I tried a 1.75, and it does thread all the way in, but almost feels a bit loose. Not sure if there’s just some wear, or if it’s the wrong size. Do you perhaps know if a 1.5 and 1.75 would at all thread in, or would it completely not work? Sounds silly, but I can’t confirm just with the eye. Too close together.
  12. Unfortunately they haven’t had Swift for years. Quite frustrating that there’s simply zero tech specs online
  13. I’ve bought a Swift Evil Twin frame but am unsure about the specifics of the thruaxle requirements. It’s a 12x142, but specifically thread pitch is a bit of a, well *pitch* to figure out. P1.5 and P1.75 is pretty damn close, so can’t really measure anything meaningful on the frame itself. Does anyone maybe have one or can share some insights please?
  14. Didn't consider the foot on the back wheel technique. Absolutely doing that now 🤣
  15. Will have to see if I can locate an LBS with stock already. Thanks for the help!
  16. Yes! That's exactly what I need. Where is this in stock?
  17. Hi all, I've run into the familiar issue of rear bottom bracket mounted aero brake catching on my new crank based power meter. I've heard that switching to a non-shimano/sram/campag brake would work. Something like Tektro, TRP or even Bonrager. Does anyone know of a local shop in SA that stocks these types of things? Not keen to wait for deliver as I'm racing this weekend and STRONGLY considering just taking the rear brake off all together. It's a straight, triathlon TT course. No need for stopping until the end! Thanks
  18. Thanks, I currently have a standard Shimano 105 direct mount. Seems all Shimano options have that design with the swing arm- which always limits clearance. Where did you get the TRP brakes? I've only ever seen them online at international stores
  19. Did you manage to solve this problem? I'm sitting with the exact same issue now....
  20. My thoughts exactly. I'm hoping for a chiro who doesn't try to quick fix me, but rather to use his expertise to figure out what is not where it should be, and then enable me to fix it myself. So your last paragraph was really resonates with my expectations. Thanks for weighing in!
  21. Very helpful, thanks ouzo. My absolute expert self diagnosis is also some sort of weirdness going on with my pelvis being twisted. Glad to hear that stretching and exercise eventually sorted things for you. Hoping the experts can tell me what to stretch and exercise, and hopefully they agree, for once.
  22. Bio definitely seems like someone to add to the list, then. The problem that I do have is that if sometimes feels these guys are really great at treating more sever or acute cases. When you go there being in perfect health, with the hope of fine tuning the machine for that last few percent, it just doesn't feel like they have a ton of experience or strategies to deal with that. That's just my experience
  23. Thanks Chris. Will have a look next time I'm down in that side of the world. Agreed that bike fitting is more than just a few angles. I have been to a bike fit or two, and the guys have been great in fixing my position with respect to assessed range of motion. It does however feel like they struggle to deal with asymmetry, or at least the ones I've been to. It just grinds my gears that there seems to be A LOT of disagreement among professionals of whether to fit the human to the bike or the bike to the human. The physios tell me the former, and the bike fitters the latter. Think I'm going to try John's advise in the mean time!
  24. Also came across his name online. Seems like someone who would have a good understanding of the bike/rider interface. Have you had any personal experience with him sorting out issues on the bike?
