  1. Agreed. The wife and I watch more Hulu than Netflix. I find Hulu better for TV shows and Netflix better for movies. I currently use Apple TV to stream so Amazon Prime isn't an option as the service / app isn't supported on the older Apple TV. We had a trial HBO subscription for a while also which is good, but I suspect will get old quickly once you've watched their limited set of (very good) shows.
  2. Anyone here doing interesting things or have experience with Raspberry Pi computers? I recently set up a Pi 2 to do all my downloading and to host Plex. Works great. Next plan is to build one next to the TV running KODI.
  3. Check if House Of Cards is available. It's not in the SA store due to Multichoice owning the rights in SA.
  4. Weird. I'm unable to access Netflix from my pc via UnoTelly (DNS error) but my AppleTv on the same network still works fine. Hope its just a temporary issue.
  5. That's exactly how my setup works. Set the UnoTelly DNS addresses in the DHCP section of your router so that every device on the network asking for an IP address gets the UnoTelly DNS as the standard. Another trick that works really well is to have the router automatically update UnoTelly whenever its IP changes like after a reset or when Telkom decides to reset the connection. UnoTelly has good instructions how to do this on their site somewhere. Edit: Grammar
  6. UnoTelly won't influence ShowMax. UnoTelly is selective to particular sites / web addresses for example www.netflix.com and www.hulu.com and only "intervenes" when one of the those addresses are requested.
  7. Interesting article at the link below on how to view Netflix content in very specific genre categories. I'll give it a try myself later this afternoon. http://flip.it/UjM6-
  8. Try Westdene Cycles around the corner from University of Johannesburg. They've been around a really long time and do carry stock of older bike parts.
  9. I pestered my Dad into getting me some of the 1st indexed shifters at the time (hey, my mates had them!) so my original part is a Shimano Light Action 6 speed indexed shifter for the rear and a friction shifter for the chainrings. I never properly experimented but my original derailleur and friction shifter definitely didn't have the range of motion required for a 10 cog cassette. Will you use the original shifter with a MTB spec derailleur? I was surprised to learn Shimano makes up to 10 speed downtube shifters. Linden Cycles found me a pair of Dura Ace 10 speed indexed downtube shifters for under R1k. I'm pretty sure the indexing between MTB and Road group sets are the same so you could go with a indexed shifter also as an option. There is something to be said for having the ability to fine tune with a friction shifter though!
  10. Finished my baby yesterday in modern guise here with a 10 speed drivetrain and modern wheel-set. She runs like a dream. This is the 1st road bike I owned. I went to the factory with my Dad to pick out the frame somewhere in the late 80s. It'll go back to 6 speed and original parts after the 94.7. Just need a better wheel set from the period still as the Wolbers I have are terrible wheels.
  11. I use FNB's version of Paypal for Unotelly but I'm pretty sure they'll take an SA credit card. DNS location changers are semi legal is it is so I can't imagine they'll be to picky about where you pay them from. I pay both Netflix and Hulu with an SA credit card using an American street address. The address is not validated, only the zip code is. In other words, you can use your own street address, but use 90210 Beverly Hills California as suburb and zip code.
  12. I might have two becoming available. I'll PM you in the next two weeks once I know four sure whether I can still make the CTC.
  13. And to directly answer the question: I doubt I've ever reached 720p on Netflix streaming with a 4MB line. My sense is it maxes out at 480p most of the time. A 2MB line should also reach 480p but will take longer to do so.
  14. I used to run Netflix on 2MB ADSL before upgrading to 4MB. The difference between the two is that Netflix takes longer to improve quality the slower your link is. Netflix always starts at a super low quality and improves the resolution in the background while you watch. As such, on 2MB you may watch a minute of blocky quality before it smoothes out while 4MB will only take a couple of secs. I've also found that capped bandwidth works better than uncapped.
  15. Bruce's cycles on the West Rand fitted it for me. It's this one. It works wrong way round on a RS (lock = unlock) but its been bomb proof since it was fitted 6 months ago.
