  1. What a lekke day that was! So, I'm the OTB ou. So, wtf happened there? I had some time on my back thinking, and went to go fetch my bike today, checked it out. So, first off, I love those tables. I ride hoogies easy once a WEEK. Almost every time I push up, and do those tables, over and over and over. I enjoy the carp outa them. Clear em big. Land them deep. So, what happened? Besides having a total brain fart, I know of 2 things. 1. Uncleated on the 1st almost OTB landing. Tried to keep wheels down on number 2,as I wasn't proper on. Well, I've learned before, and seems I had to learn again. At that speed, commit. You can keep the front down, good luck with the back. 2. Got my bike today... Rebound, all the way to the damn bunny. I lock the rear out when climbing.. Only logical answer, flipping the lock on and off, made the rebound screw turn. Guess keeping an eye on that would be wise. But, all in all, can't wait to get back on my bike! Also, just a session on those tables. Need some better photos.
  2. Got the Minion DHF for the front. 2.30. Rear is a 2.35, but I hope for the grippy grips in front to outweigh the 2.35 Forkaster. Took the bike for an awesome run down Majik and Lombards today. Feels perfect. So... tyres, sorted for now. Now, off to the hunt for the right Handlebar!! Thanks for the help! Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  3. The Ardent looks like a good high rolling wheel for the back. Then a High Roller II up front. The rear being a 2.4 not an issue? Im used to the thinner crossmark on my HT.
  4. Only the first day of the demo ride.. I cant really comment on it's actual handling. It seemed wrong to me, that's why I wanted something else. It didn't seem right for the soil here. Could be wrong..
  5. I got the new Spark 940 a week ago. Now stuck on tyres.... I used to ride a HT Scott, with a 2.1 Crossmark on the back, and a 2.35 Panaracer Fire 29er Pro up front. Worked great for me. Been riding a HT for years. Now over to the Dualie. My buddy is running E Thirteens front and rear on his Rocky, and he swears that these are the only way to go! They look a bit DH orientated to me. But, makes sense if you wanna klap the trails hard. By trails I mean Tygerberg MTB network. Now on the 940, I went for a 2.35 Maxxis Forekaster on the back (actually the standard tire on the bike) and an Ardent 2.4 on the front, as I told the shop I wanted something grippier for the summer. They swopped the Forekaster on the front out for the Ardent. Any comments about the Ardent? Do I stick to it? I dont do too much long distance, and I really enjoy pushing the downhill sections as hard as I can.
  6. I have noticed an issue with speed at top end...
  7. Yeah, purdy busy, but, neat. Doesn't look bad.
  8. My knowledge on dual sus bikes is extremely limited. I am good example of the "average joe" looking to get a bit crazier. I've been riding a Scott Scale Elite HT 29er for the last 2 years. Basically my introduction to MTB. Been riding in the Tygerberg trails. My buddy, has been riding a Pyga, and now a carbon Rocky jobby. He's quite the daredevil. So, I've been on his rear wheel for the last year or so, hitting almost every feature he does, but I keep my wheels down. So, I got the 2017 Spark 940 a few days ago... and WOW!!! What a confidence booster! Just flies into the air!! Drop offs, no problem... table tops, insta-air. Really awesome ride. I am 1.8m, and weigh around 95kg. The bike feels considerably heavier than my HT, but it makes sense. Def not the lightest bike out there... but, an amazing ride! Now looking to get some knee guards, and elbow guards, coz, I am destined to hit the floor a couple of times I just replaced the front tire with an Ardent 2.4, as I don't think the Forekasters are good for the dry Tygerberg trails in the summer. I'm keeping the Forekaster 2.35 on the back for now. I will also probably be getting a shorter stem on there, and some raised bars. It might affect the climbing a bit, but, as it is now, climbs like a mountain goat!!! Almost all the way up Majik, ALL the way I spun out Maybe next time!
