    Sani2C May 2021

Good day Everyone, I am doing the Sani2C for the first time this year and are really looking forward to it. Thanks in advance for everybody's input as some of the previous posts on the forum already helped me quite a lot. I would just like some advise on the car shuttle/transport etc at the Sani2C Adventure event please. We had a family member that would have gone with to drive our car from the Glencairn farm to Scottburgh. Unfortunately due to unforeseen reasons this family member can not go with anymore. I contacted the car shuttle service organised by the local schools and they are unfortunately already fully booked but they would let me know when there is a cancelation. My first question: Would someone go through the trouble to actually cancel their car shuttle booking if they won't be attending the event or if they won't be using the car shuttle service anymore, given the fact that you forfeit your payment as a donation to the school? Second question: Are there anybody that will not by using their car shuttle service booking? Please would you be so kind to contact me as I would then like to get in contact with the shuttle organisers and ask them whether they can allocate me a spot. Third question: Are there any other alternatives that I can explore? Except flying in as we would need our own car for a few days after the race. Thanks again.
  2. I am going to try again to ride my first CTCC. My flights and accommodation are booked for me and my support team (wife and 2 kids). Unfortunately 2017 did not work out for me (my wife and kids enjoyed the trip, especially after they didn't have to stand in the wind and support me, and ending up at a wine farm instead). I will try again this year, mainly because i haven't done it before. Lets hold thumbs for 2018. Jurgens Smit, sorry but I can't really answer your question, as my costs for trying to get one CTCC behind my name has been way more than it should be (especially with the whole family coming along 2 years in a row).
  3. Hi 2 X 2. Apologies that the Polokwane cycle community leave you hanging like this. I live in Polokwane, but am sorry to say that I have never done this race before. I will be doing it for the first time this year. Although I can try and give you an idea by just what my friends that have done the race before have told me. They told me that it's a very flat and fast race. Definitely not a lot of hills (Polokwane in general is very flat). Like I understand this is a qualifying race for Cape Town Cycle Challenge as well as for the 94.7 (I think). In most of the qualifying races that they have done, they feel that this race is usually where they post their best times over this distance. Sorry that I can't give you more info, but I hope this helped a bit.
  4. Thanks for the advice. They will be staying in Newlands, so from the looks of things, they will be boxed in by the route (from my limited knowledge of the route). That is why I think Carbon29er's advice of Edinburgh drive and then over to Suikerbossie sounds good. What is your thoughts?
  5. Thanks, that is great advice. I will let them do exactly that.
  6. Hi everyone, Please can I get some advice?....not sure if this was covered before. This is my first CTCC and my family wants to support me on the route, where do you think is the best place for them to stand? (a nice vibe area with nice views of the cyclists and where I can pull off to greet them). Some additional info if at some spectator areas the vibe die down at a certain time of day: I only start at 9:10 and hope to get a sub 5. Thanks a lot.
  7. Thanks for the advice. We will be starting at 8:33 in group DD.
  8. I would like some advice please. I will be riding with a few of my mates in a charity group (some of them are doing the 94.7 for the first time). Our goal is to just finish the race, and enjoy the day out on the bike (so no racing involved etc). Are there any tips anyone can think of that will be useful for someone doing it for the first time other than what I could think of below? Do not push to hard in the beginning (keep some matches for Ceder and Steyn City). Do not ride in the yellow line (ride where the car's drive, as the road is cleaner there, and therefore less punctures). Do not bunch at the start of the water table to get something to drink (the water tables are very long), ride past the water tables and get your drink close to the end of the water tables. Watch out for riders backing away from a water table with their bike between their legs. When passing the Bar One ladies, try to keep full control of your bike. Stay away from the Tequila table at Zoo Lake.Any advice or tips will be much appreciated.
  9. Hi Nick, It was very nice to meet you too. It was easy to spot you guys on the matching cannondales. The 42km was brutal, but I enjoyed it a lot. Hope you had fun, and see you again next year!
  10. Brillant! See you there.
  11. I'll be doing it on my trusty hardtail Trek (white, silver and red). Will only be doing the 40km this weekend. What bike you on and what distance are you doing this weekend?
  12. I will see you guys there on Saturday. One of my favorite races of the year. Very well organised, and always a great atmosphere.
