  1. Shot for the replies, hesitant to chuck dhr on the back as it's a 2.4 and I am sick of roaring and ripping fat, sticky back tires up all these hills! Not riding too much and will either keep the minion for the front once the high roller is done (read quite a few articles which reckon it's not half bad as a front tire - with stellar breaking capabilities) or just return it for another hr2. For the back I'm trying to get a pacestar super gravity rock razor, but no luck on that front.
  2. Hi guys, Had been looking for Maxxis High Roller 2s for quite some time... Anyways, I came across some and bought two. Both are 27.5 x 2.4 3C Compound, DH Casings. Anyone have any clue why they would have different tread patterns? Methinks there may have been a mixup at the factory and one is in fact a minion dhr2. It's had me scratching my head quite a bit. Anyone have comments about the 3C compound? Since I moved from XC weekend warrior, to enduro/lite DH weekend warrior, I've been a Schwalbe guy, keen to give these a try!
  3. I've run the HD on the back for a while (and on front), started with 2.35 trailstar and then changed to 2.25 pacestar. Don't really notice a difference in grip between the two but the 2.25 with pacestar rolls a bit quicker and certainly lasts a lot longer. TS wears very quickly on the back.
  4. Gone I'm afraid... Had some tasty castles in return! Either get from action cycles in town, or Stoke suspension works (Droo on the hub). Cheers
  5. Seems there's no other way... I've been trying to get HR II's for ages but nobody seems prepared to bring them in. Ended up going with a 2015 Sch NN PS for a rear tire... Havent fitted it yet though.
  6. Lucky buggar! Damn nice bike
  7. Interesting. Look pretty fat (wide) too. Whats the damage of each of these?
  8. Just saw the date of the OP. My bad. Offer still stands if anyone sees this and wants those items.
  9. Hey there. I have a bottle of fox green 10wt - unopened. and a 3/4 full bottle of float fluid (like enough for 5 years of services ). I dont use either anymore as i have a RS fork now. Think i paid around 400 for the green and really cant remember what i paid for the float fluid. You are welcome to have both in exchange for a case of beer. Drop me a PM. I'm in CT this weekend but i see you are Vredenburg - will be in Langebaan on Monday for work, so can arrange to meet up.
  10. The Canyon is a piece of art
  11. What a beaut of a bike!
  12. Gotcha. Haha
  13. Not talking about the blue thing. In the box it comes with the procore tubes (the blue ones), as well as regular tubes. They way they describe the installation, you install the procore tube, then your tubeless tire... So why the two regular tubes?

  15. Have you guys seen this? http://www.gramslightbikes.com/2014/08/schwalbe-procore-dual-chamber-tire.html Looks like a good idea, but who knows why they include the regular tubes with the kit.
  16. Im the same with a HD. There are tears on the side knobs, which appeared after only a few rides. I was pretty bummed having only just forked out for them. Decided to just keep going, and TBH is hasnt got any worse. The cracks are still there but the things grip like hell and wear very minimal elsewhere. The rear (non SG trailstar too) has seen a lot of wear over the whole surface of the tire. Will probably get six months out of it.
  17. Very nice review of the ibis. That thing is a dream machine.
  18. An absolute beaut!
  19. This is so incredible - AWESOME bike too... Cant keep my eye off those ENVES http://www.pinkbike.com/news/the-ridge-danny-macaskill-video-2014.html
  20. Those mattoc pro forks are nice, but bike should have had a matching paint scheme...
  21. Nothing leaves skidmarks like a tire rolling off the rim (and I'm not talking about the skiddies on the trail).... Unlucky man. Hope it's better soon. Apologies for something slightly off topic but I reckon you're better off with a broken collarbone than muscular/ligament/tendon issues - GF baled while running and after plates, screws etc were installed (and torqued correctly no doubt[emoji1]), she was using it again within 2 weeks, 2 months later it feels hundreds... Just make sure you do those boring exercises they give you... Have had similar issues from rugby and didn't complete treatment properly = issues to this day.
  22. Can't comment on the wear but evobikes have them. Seems all of the schwalbe tires are R695, regardless of compound, thickness etc.
  23. Hey, thanks for the offer. Yes I do have the trance. I spoke to Andrew at Stoke. Will sort something from him, he has a number of options for me to have a look at. I will watch how the HD on the front holds up, and replace the rear with something harder wearing. Thanks for the offer re picking one up for me! My biggest issue with the HD is the cost: best part of R700 bucks for something that wears that quick is eina (although i realise that i chose the wrong compound for the rear tire)! The pacestar schwalbe may fix this. From what i can gather, a similar AM tire from most manufacturers like Maxxis, Conti, will set me back much the same, and availablity can be an issue with Maxxis (was looking into ardent/high roller 2). Sidewall protection from cuts is pretty important to me, as i'ma heavy buggar, and spent money on wheelsets etc which let me run the low pressures my lighter brethren get to enjoy
  24. I have had Hans Dampf 2.35 front and 2.25 rear - both Trailstar compound as this was all i could get my hands on at the time. I love the grip, width and size of these tires but damn these things wear fast! I have been using them for about a month and a half, and the rear has probably got about 30% life left. The front is fine wear-wise. Both of them have side knobs which are cracking and tearing. I know a pacestar would've been better at the back, but i'm thinking the front could do with it as well, especially as things will be drier in the Cape from now on... For the price, I am thinking of changing brands. Where does one get the WTB tires in the Cape? I like what I'm hearing about them, but what is the sidewall protection and support like?
  25. These bikes with the long top tube and nice short stem have got my attention... Very nice indeed
