  1. in addtion to your comments about cyclist awareness on the rd..........if everyone notice this place was packed and the rd much busier than normal no way is a cyclist gonna have only 1 quarter of his attention to his surroundings
  2. .............my 2 cents.....if there is a market out there for 2nd hand parts guess whos supporting this market............CYCLISTS!!!!........guys that get on there bikes to ride around rondebosch common with there kids is not gonna buy components worth thousands of rands.........so it only has to be us "CYCLISTS" supporting these AHoles so guys stop complaining if we the "guys" are supporting this market, therefore if a deal is to good to be true..........it probably is too good to be true.........dont just blindly buy these things if it raises a whole lotta question marks, or if it doesnt feel right, or if the guy selling the items dont come close to looking like a cyclist and he has top-end stuff.......something is wrong with that picture............something to think about (PS hopefully non of us on this forum does this and if we dont try and preach this preach to the rest of the cycling community) ..........lets get LEADSA going.if everybody makes a small change it will eventually pay off
  3. Hi same with me attempted to jack me about 2 weeks ago they thru a hammer and hit my shoulder luckily i was able toget away..........its a real problem.........not at the same spot but also in jan smuts rd closer to viking way
  4. Hi All there was an attempt to bikejack me last week 9 January 2014 and 18h50. I was commuting home and was travelling on jans smuts drive. the incident happened bt the viking way turn off onto jan smuts drive and where the old athlone cooling towers use to be. To be more exact once you fork onto jan smuts drive from viking way, Jan smust drive takes its first bend which is opposite the railway line as well as Langa cemetry which is in turn on the opposite side of the railway line. It was 4 guys probably not older than 17 years old. They threw me with a hammer which hit my upper arm i was luckiy to escape as i noticed these guys about 100m before the time and could see that something did not look right because of the the way the guys were approaching running at me (1 upfront, 1 towards me and the other 2 lurking on the field behind). When i realised what was going to go down was real i crossed to the centre of the rd and thats when they threw the hammer, i then went right across the rd to the oncoming traffic by this time i was too far for the guy that was running upfront as well and they gave up. Guys just be vigilant on that road of any guys lurking on that huge open field. I noticed alot of guys commuting from work and just cycling in that road. In addition there is road works on that road so anybody can be hiding behind that huge concrete pipes stacked along the road if you travelling in Old Mutuals direction. Be safe I reported it to the Pinleands Police station so i hope my efforts were not all in vain and that they patrol more on that section.
  5. sorry Aebro , a bit of an over reaciotn on your side. the statement of first come first serve should be revised to "first come with the money in my bank, first serve". Aebro there are such alot of dissapointments on the hub where guys promise to buy and then never pitch up or are never heard of again or wants to make some ridiculous deal, therefore the first guys that pitches up with cash or a deposit slip is king........sorry i would have done the same. however, when i sold something on the hub i specifcally told all potentials that whomever comes first "with the cash" it will be sold to and hat i could not promise to hold back on the item for someone that might or might not pitch up
  6. the guy that i bought the bike from had a 31.6 mm aero stem in it..he said he fell in love with the seatpost, so he stuffed the seatpost in with alotta silicone tape into the frame .....to be honest it seemed to actually work as i wouldn't have known any better if i didnt take it for a service and thats when all was revealed , but i was not happy knowing that it was like that..it just didnt feel right to do that to the R3
  7. .....oh yes so if anyone is loking for a 32.4mm carbon seatpost give Olympic cycles in Cape Town a call cause they can sort you out with 1 for R1600 and something as i took the one for R780 already......
  8. thanks guys was on my way home from work and because olympic cycles is on my way , i thought what the hell go in and check if they have.........and scratching thru all of it i found x2 FSA SL-K .........1 costing R1600+ and the other R780 both full carbon but the 1 had a diff colour sticker on it...the salesman couldnt xplain the difference in price as they looked xactly the same excpt for the sticker...and i grabbed it before he could change his mind........so im sorted
  9. thanks man i was just about to google then i got your msg, thanks
  10. Hi does anyone know what size the diameter of the cervelo R3 2008 seatpost is (black with red and white stripes). I need a seatpost and dunno where to get one and do you guys know more or less what the price would be? HEEEELP!
  11. pic of the car that houses the moffie that attacks cyclist. cape argus article link
  12. it seems like there is an area weher you can rate a hub member but i think this should be more actively promoted and utilised and maybe be more user friendly to update
  13. Is it? then cool, im not sure though? will investigate
  14. Hi all Dont you think it will be great if the Hub can provide Seller information similar to that which ebay provides i.e. if the seller sold previous items on the hub the buyers could rate the seller such as they had a pleasurable experience transacting with the buyer, the buyer is a scammer, the seller provides poor service, etc. Maybe a rating system of 1-5 so that new potential buyers can get a feel for whom they dealing with and with out having to ask the questions, who am i dealing with, can i actaully trust you, i wonder if this guys is a scammer, etc. Regards Yellow Jersey
  15. nope river rat...... checked that you dont have to be registered with the FSB. lately Paypal is operating in SA they are not registered with the FSB or they are not considered a bank...i must admit though that they do operate thru FNB and might be piggy backing off them. but as far as im aware it is not needed but i will revisit that question again in my homework. thanks
