  1. Im in the same area also looking for some training buddies... send me his details and will see if we can arrange something... plenty cool trails out this side just not solo friendly especially when running... Nigel
  2. Hi Guys. New to this thread.. I live in the West Rand of Jozzi and looking for some trail running partners to do some training with. Not too fast, not too slow.... Building for Comrades and UTCT next year, we have some amazing trails and routes out this side but Im not too keen to try too many longer runs on my pat as most of the trails are just trails in and around the area and not in bike parks or reserves etc. thanks and enjoy the trails....
  3. Just a quick one guys.Anyone else doing the Hedianggaagggfaaa Beast this weekend (sorry I tried 3 times and cant spell the name right) Im in for the 15k and its my first proper trail run. Im sure Im fit enough and expecting some technical sections but just how scared should I be?? Not trying to win or anything like that just want to be mentally prepared. aaaaand go.............
  4. Thanks, I recon that should be enough to get me going.
  5. Hey Guys. New to this thread but here is my story. First born son arrived last September so havnt been able or willing to devote my normal amount of time to training on the MTB. Searching for some early 2015 motivation I entered Xterra Full distance which Im hoping will be awesome next weekend. During this training phase, really enjoyed the running and more recently proper trail running. (I can go run for an hour and get a proper workout, same as 3 hours plus on the bike so its a win win for me at the monent) Im keen on trying out some trail races in and around the Jozzi area for the first half of this year, and then my boy, wife and motivation will dictate what i focus on for the rest of 2015. Any clues where is the best place to search for races and events as the google machine seems to be focused on Western Cape (or at least that's what I can find). Cheers and hope to catch you on the trails!! PS: Hero red route is a lekka 15 odd km run, not too technical but tough on the legs!!
  6. ahhh thanks, I thought there might be an issue with the tapered axle assembly. Shot for the help!!
  7. Hey Hubbers and Techies. Need some advise. Waiting for the delivery of a secondhand Cannondale. Just want to know if a standard 15mm through axle hub will be compatible with the lefty or will I need to use a lefty specific hub?? Just want to check my options of whether I keep my current wheels or rebuild it onto the lefty hub or sell them and buy a set of lefty specific wheels?? and go............ Peace out...
  8. Hi Guys. Just want to add my 5c worth here. Got me some of this CleanExtreme stuff and yes R 150 is a little steep, BUT........ I run a single speed so the chain is basically the only component I have to really worry about. I also prefer to use squirt lube and as you all know it works like a dream but has a rather annoying and dirty side effect. I have used Cleanextreme a couple of times now as instructed and I can honestly say it does the business, no mess no fuss just as it says on the packaging. Simply apply, leave alone and rinse off!! Seeing as Im running SS I only use a small amount during the process so Im sure my R 150 is gonna last. Lets face it, nothing is cheap these days but a product that works like a dream is worth the "extra layout" in my opinion. Im sure on a fully geared setup this stuff will work like magic. As for the "issues" with the marketing info, I cant say I read that far down on the package. I simply tried it out and I am chuffed that it works. i will keep trying it and will post more info on my findings (if anyone actually cares) but bottom line is you sometimes have to pay a little more for a product that dies what it says it does. 5c over. Peace out!!!
  9. Thanks Guys!!! 32 x 20 it is then!!! At least the second half is all downhill so just need to haul myself up to the top and enjoy the rest!! Cant wait!!! Ps: looks like tons of rain thurs and fri, but weekend looks ok for now!!!
  10. Hi Guys. I'm attempting the Marathon and Half Marathon (the next day) on my SS. Its my first trip to the mecca of MTB in SA and really hopping for some dry conditions. any advise on gear selection for the marathon??? Cant wait!!
  11. Thanks Guys!!! Feeling a little happier about this now!! thought I was in for some serious PT on this one!! Sounds simple enough!!!
  12. If I dont come right with it over the weekend, I will contact you next week. Im often out East for work and can schedule a "meeting" your side. thanks
  13. Thanks for the advise, will i need to "file" down the tue at all or will this cause the fibers to split once the tube is cut??
  14. JHB West???
  15. Hi Hubbers. I need some advise. I have just received my rigid carbon fork for my SS but the steerer is WAAYYYYY too long. Any idea on what is the best way to cut the steerer, what to use, does anyone know of risks in doing this etc. Etc. Dont want to C#*k up my brand new fork. Thanks!!!
