  1. Hey Slave. Good to read you're back on the bike. Havent been on the forum(and my bike) for a long time. At the moment I'm indoors and waiting for warmer weather. Will make a turn soon.
  2. Just want to thank all the riders that waited for me when I had a puncture this morning at the entrance of Eye of Africa. Did not expect everybody to wait but you did. THANKS A LOT!. Not sure what the cause of the pucture was, but after the second tube I gave up and called my wife. Luckely the Windhoek Lager topie was not there to tell me" we don't call the wife when we get a pucture, Dave. Always keep it real" Tyres are due for replacement so will check out what caused the puncture later. Could not pick anything up when I inspected it three times next to the road. Once again, thanks guys. It's a pleasure to ride with friends like you guys(and gals).
  3. My time for fastone is 3:07. My target was 3hr, so need a lot of training still. Woke up nice and early yeasterday and went to Nasrec. It was raining and I forgot my Cell at home so I decided to chicken out and go home. As I arived home I saw traces of blue sky, picked up my phone and drove back to Nasrec. After a rush I started two groups behind my seeded group in group K(At the back of K). Was seeded in I. The first 15 kms was all about chasing the front groups(The K group was all about social). I eventually cought a group with a reasonable pace at Xumbugs. Stayed with them for a good 50km but then the guys did not want to work at the front anymore. We ended up with a small group of three just before Vereeniging going to the end. I cramped up after the bridge over the Vaal and the left me behind to finish the last few kilo's on my own. I think I burnt myself out chasing the Sub 3hr.I finished 15th in group K. I'm sure I would have had a beter time if I started I group I. I think the 1st place in group I time was 2h48. The rain was welcome to cool me down. I think al the chasing and pacing took it's tole on me, I did not even finish my two drinks as I concentrated too much on my end time. Guess the Sub 3 will be next year.
  4. Good to see you back on the The Hub Slave. Still Need to come see you.
  5. Slave, Don't remove the brakes on the Raleigh. Not sure what's wrong with the rear one. Will sort it out later when I get another set.
  6. @kieran Thanks. I stay in albertsdal. @slave I got the bike of the hub. I think that means voetstoots. Hopefully its not too difficult to fix. Just 1 spoke broke. Next year target: sub 3,5
  7. missed my sub 4 target by 10 minutes. Not feeling too bad as i beat my last year time by more then an hour. Broke a rear spoke in randburg and went all the way up witkoppen with the brakes touching. Had to slow down and took it easy after that. Anybody know of someone good to fix my wheel in the south?
  8. saw you yesterday up kliprivier over the r59 slave. You where really pumping it. I struggled to keep up with the bakkie.
  9. sorry to hear that hilto. What colour and size is your bike? Will lookout for it. Pity that a person cant even ride alone and just enjoy cycling .
  10. my dark blue merida 580 was stolen out of my garage, bout a month ago. Size 16". Is a hardtail, had a cateye computer and had the extensions on the handlebar. If anybody see it, 0836580299 shawn
  11. Also did the TDS on Sunday. You did not see me Slave because I changed my mind and did the 40Km funride. It was not fun at all. Why? I did no road training in Winter. I thought Soweto was flat. Lucky I did not do a second lap. My watch say I did the 40K in 1hr30min. Have to start training this weekend for the 94.7. My target is a 3hr45. They need to change the start/finish. We left a whole 1.5hrs after the official 40km planned start. The marshalls where running around and giving individual feedback, while a lot of people did not even know where the starting blocks where. Also hit a pothole. Other then that, the race was ok.
  12. I also have pain in my hip area, outside of carve . Currently seeing a Fisio but no improvement yet. We also suspect it's pinched nerve. Traction not succesfull. Will go for another two sesions and then look for another solution. Next step: Neurologist
