  1. A bike technician can earn anywhere from R7,500 CTC to R25,000 depending on skill and experience level. A workshop manager or technical manager can earn much more. We do run regular training on all our technicians accredited by our Workshop Technical Manager at Cyclelab Megastore Fourways. We also augment this with regular supplier training and are looking at getting some international trainers out for the team. Unfortunately we have to do this inhouse as there is no South African accredited body. But we are looking at improving this over time. If you are interested in a career in this field please DM me and we can discuss options. Regards
  2. Thanks for the feedback Muggins, we are always trying to improve our customer experience.
  3. HI Georg We actually have the Merida Big 9 300 on special at the moment for R8,999 at Cyclelab Megastore Fourways. It is a great bike and we have received strong feedback from customers who have purchased them.
  4. Johannesburg, Gauteng, 4 April 2014 – Cycle Lab announces the permanent closure of their Cape Town branch Cycle Lab recently broke the news that they would be permanently closing their Cape Town branch, situated on the corner of Buitengracht and Hout Street, on Saturday 10 May. While the move may surprise consumers, the retailer has plans to bring the Cycle Lab Megastore Experience to Cape Town and the current store is simply not large enough to house the retail experience offered by the new Cycle Lab brand. The new Cycle Lab Megastore, in Cape Town, will be opening later in the year and according to Lloyd Waldeck, CEO of Cycle Lab, the new store will offer a shopping experience unlike anything seen before in the Cape, “the upgrade of our Fourways Megastore has been well received and we are excited to bring the same experience to Cape Town later this year. With the Cape Town CBD store closing on 10 May 2014 the Cape Town team will be undergoing extensive training over the next few months and will be key in delivering a truly world class experience when we re-open. The new Cape Town Megastore will have the widest range of bikes, accessories, clothing and repair services in the Western Cape, all offered at internationally competitive prices.” Mr. Waldeck was also quick to remind customers affected by the closure that there are other stores in the Cape Town area that they can make use of, “We remind customers that we have several franchise stores in the area who will gladly service your needs during the ensuing winter months”. Cycle Lab has promised to put their best foot forward when launching their new megastore and assures consumers that the staff will be highly skilled and knowledgeable, offering consumers a world class retail experience.
  5. A reasonable addition to this thread I think. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/138285-real-pinarellos-at-fake-prices/
  6. HI Guys Please see attached amended artwork. Thanks very much to @nigelhicks for the fantastic copy. PS. Sorry about the minor typos these will be corrected.
  7. HI All, yes you are correct we are closing our city store in Cape Town and we are evaluating our options with regard to the Cape Town market. I hope to have news for you in the coming weeks and months.
  8. Thanks very much for the feedback we will make sure it reaches Rodney.
  9. It's beautiful! I think it might be a little confusing still but certainly worth exploring this chart option.
  10. Old sign coming down and new one in production.
  11. Thanks, no one ever said this was a soft crowd
  12. Hi Nige We really love this fantastic copy which is clearly better than our version and adds a lot more intricacy to the explanation. We would like to (with your permission) remove our sign and replace it with your copy. We would also like to send you a R500 gift voucher for helping us create a better information board. Please DM me your details and I will send your voucher along and thanks again. Kind Regards
  13. These are great and constructive suggestions.
  14. We have never found these two strategies to be mutually exclusive. Knowledgeable salespeople supported by instore informational signage is what we are trying to get to.
  15. Hi All, wow thanks for all the passionate feedback about our instore signage. I guess there are few things to point out: 1. We will be taking your feedback on board and adjusting the signage with some of the better suggestions. 2. This was really designed as a "general" guide on wheel sizing. It is really designed for someone who is new to the sport to try and give them a guide to the new wheel sizes. As we know most of these new riders will be doing mostly jeep track and basic single track riding and the guide was designed with them in mind. We are obviously mindful that more experience riders have different riding preferences and that the wheel size is a complicated debate (as seen from many of these comments). 3. Regarding the comments on 26ers to be fair almost all manufacturers (and certainly the local distributors) have discontinued this wheel size so it is true to say that some very entry level models are coming out with 26 inch wheel sizes. 4. We have opted to call 650B bikes 27.5ers. We found when asking new riders about the sizes that 650B (wedged in between 26er and 29er) was complicated nomenclature and we are trying to make a very technical sport as simple to understand as possible. 5. This board was inspired by a very similar graphic at Eurobike where the international manufacturers were trying to explain the difference in wheel sizes and matching those to rider profiles. 6.Lastly as I mentioned this is a very broad guide, to explain the intricacy of wheel size would take the many pages you see before this post, it is not so easy to put it on a board in a store environment. That said we will continue to refine and adjust our signage over the coming months and years. Thanks for the comments it provided very entertaining reading.
