  1. Will slap your ass next time I come flying past, pink wheels and all
  2. Anybody know who the distributors are? I'm keen to take it up with them.
  3. Thanks Butterbean. I want to scrape it off as it looks so wrong. Still a little concerned about sidewall integrity though as it will remove this "bonding" material. Had i known this would happen I doubt I would have purchased.
  4. The online store called Cyclesharp. Have had great service from them over the years
  5. Hi DR. No sealant present in tyres, I'm running with tubes. Never seen anything like it before and I've used many brands (including Michelin in the past).
  6. So I was wondering if anybody else has seen this happen to their Michelin Tyres. I fitted these late Dec and they've started oozing this weird pink rubbery stuff. Have no idea if its a defect or what and am worried about the tyres integrity if I remove it? Furthermore, it doesn't look all that appealing. The tyres in question are Michelin Pro 4 Endurance. I tried taking it up with the supplier but no response as yet. Has this happened to any of you and is there cause for concern? Nick
  7. Hey All So I don't know about you guys, but I'm one to stick to what I know when it comes to replacing tyres on my road bike. Kinda the type to play it safe when it comes to components that I choose for my bike, and generally persuaded by reputable bike brand names. So when I look to replace my tyres, I typically go for what i had previously used, unless of coarse they sucked and I got too many flats or they wore too quickly etc. I've had bad experience with Gatorskins, so haven't looked at Continental in some time. So my question is (and this is directed to Conti fans with Michelin/Schwalbe/Vittoria experience): Are the GP4000II or GP5000's as good or better than say Schwalbe One or Michelin Pro 4 Endurance/Vittoria equivalent? Considerations would be typical: MileagePuncture ResistanceRolling ResistancePriceI'm interested to see your opinions/experience and how the big 3 brands fair against one another in SA, specifically Road Tyres 23/25 C. No experience with Mountain Bike tyre's so don't go there. Cheers Nick
  8. I ended up buying a Halo as a result. Not ideal for a R4.5k helmet, Kask could have at least thrown one in
  9. Thanks Straight Line. Will check in with them on pad options possibly.
  10. Tried attaching my scientific prognosis on the sweatband here:
  11. So it might just be a Kask thing I guess. The pad doesn't seem to hold sweat very well, and is shaped in a V towards the centre of the forehead. Not sure what they were thinking.
  12. After scouring the SA online and LBS's scene for a decent helmet, I ended up deciding on a Protone. All the reviews I read were very positive and the helmet seems to be a very popular one from what i can tell out on the road. My thoughts so far: Pros: Ridiculously light Very comfortable Sits securely, and fitment/adjust ability excellent Eyewear slots into helmet with zero risk of falling out (glasses dependent sure) Next to no drag at high speed so its "aero" Doesn't overheat and venting suberb. Looks good (subjective I know) Cons: Expensive And the reason for my post - Channels sweat directly into my friggin eyes!! I've owned and used quite a few helmets in the past but none have done such a fantastic job of channeling sweat away from my forehead and directly into my eyes! I'm sure for the cost, the experts at Kask could have developed a better sweatband that channels sweat off the forehead better than the current one. Anybody else experience this and know a clever hack to prevent this from happening? Tried vaseline above the brow but not ideal. I'm considering tossing the "sweatpad" away and replacing with another brand like Giro or MET (my Met one was excellent)
  13. Thanks Shnavel, we might have to take you up on that offer.
  14. I'm also desperately seeking a female! (I'm on same team as devocean)
  15. Taken from my Instagram account. @fullgasvink Thought the canon was appropriate. Supersix in black gloss.
  16. Just beautiful isn't it. Ritte, if you are seeing this, please sponsor me!!!
  17. Hi All Looking for some input and feedback on your experiences with bike mechanics in the Cape Town area, specifically regarding wheel truing services. Who has stood out for you as offering the best in terms of accurate & precise wheel truing work? This is something we all need to look at having done from time to time on our prized wheelsets. Some claim to do it well while others excel. Cheers Fullgasvink
  18. Hey all I'm an Argus newbie and live in the Southern Peninsula. My question is what do most guys do when driving through to town for parking? I've seen which roads are closed and figure I could possibly go up de Waal drive and try find parking in town, not sure if this is advisable though? I don't mind leaving at before sparrows fart to get into town and then chill in the car with coffee or even try catch a couple hours nap. Very little info online with many sites not even getting the event date right??? Some veteran tips would be welcome If you are riding, enjoy it. Cheers Nick
  19. Thanks for responses guys, gives me something to think about. The towbar bike rack type seems the best option, as funjunkie pointed out that the clip on type might cause paint damage and don't want that.
  20. Hey All Looking to get a Hyundai I20 1.6 Hatchback. Was wondering if you guys could recommend a decent bike rack (not roof type) that can mount 1 or 2 bikes at the boot end. Would prefer to still be able to open boot with rack on but not sure if this is possible. Shot
  21. Please use this forum to share your experiences with regards to Minibus Taxi's on our roads. Have had three near misses, in fact two near misses and one hit, in the last week alone and all of these incidents were Taxi's. First near miss was opposite Cape Point in Cape Town late evening with nobody on the road and this taxi comes flying past and extremely close to my shoulder. The road is seriously wide along that strip, WTF. Second incident happened ealrier this week on Kommetjie road in bumper to bumper traffic. I have an incredibly bright front light with epileptic inducing blinker and cautiously approached on his inside when he decides to ride me into the pavement, with his left rear mirror hitting my shoulder in the process. Jumped off my bike and gave him a piece of my mind while he staired at me with a blank expression on his face, probably thinking I'm crazy AND in the wrong. Third incident just happened half an hour ago (late Friday morning), again along Kommetjie road in Kommetjie, a quiet suburban area. Taxi comes so close I could feel the left mirror shave my earlobe. Made a few polite gestures at him as he drove into the distance as you do because I mean what else is there to do? Am seriously considering carrying pepper spray and emptying the can into the drivers face should I be given half the chance. Somethings gotta get the message across and asking nicely ain't gonna cut it. So I'm guessing this sort of thing happens all the time with Taxi's on our roads and we should just sit back and accept that when it's our time, it will almost certainly be at the hands of an incompetent, ignorant and lawless taxi driver. Do they not understand the concept of safe passing distance, or just good driving practice FFS and what can be done about this?
