  1. Maybe they're all realising that they should be Bombing down singletrac in baggys instead. Or maybe they aren't.
  2. Good to hear that you're joining is in Boven this weekend! See you there DG go easy on me taking a bit of strain of late...man' date=' it's going to be an awesome weekend. unfortunately, i'm gonna have to tackle it with a hardtail...[/quote']holy the hardtail will do it - YOU can do anything on a hardtail, and last time i was there was the first time i rode there with something OTHER than a hardtail ... can't WAIT just haven't really riden one for a while...the rigid doesn't really count. haven't played on the 'dale for almost a year. hope she is kind to me. she dumped me big time last time out. Hey Holy Roller, Fortunately for you, Glenn has built the trails to cater for all, so I'm sure the old hard tail will handle just fine. Don't expect any fast times down the rim trail though! Oh, I'm also bringing my helmet cam along. So, no pressure dude! I may be posting a youtube link on Monday. He he
  3. I was so keen to go and watch the DH but went and punished my body (and bike) in Lesotho instead.
  4. Good to hear that you're joining is in Boven this weekend! See you there DG
  5. Bump again!
  6. Thanks MsBehavn, I have left all my details with them. I was reluctant to hand it in as I doubt the owner would ever see it again! Hopefully I'll find the owner soon. Otherwise I'll put up a notice there this Saturday.
  7. Someone had a very hard ride in Groenkloof nature reserve this morning as they've left their front wheel lying in the parking lot (near the tap). If it's you or you know this person, please call me as I've got it resting but lonely in my garage (and no I haven't washed it!) Please confirm rim and tyre make when calling me. I'm based in PTA east. Steve 083-4411 054
  8. I'm giving up on local retailers (so are all my mates). I'd sugest you buy online. PM me if you need links. Case in point: ( Howzit "H" I 'm looking for a double chain ring tensioner to replace my Single C.R.T.). Response: Durhh Ahhhh Erhhhh " Let me make a call" Truth is bud: Your local bike shop employs a bunch of snot noses! My policy is: if you know what you want, buy it over the Web from the UK.
  9. I recently brought in a seat post from the UK. (not CRC). I wasn't even charged 14% vat when it arrived here, only a 'clearence fee' of R25.00 Bonus!
  10. and what if the wind is furious? Then you've got to be fast!
  11. The perfect ride for a pornstar! Very nice boet! Just don't get caught in a cross wind!
  12. It certainly is not my intention to start a Road vs MTB debate. I think both are awesome! I haven't ridden my road bike since my son was born with Downs Syndrome and other complications now 16 months ago. It's a personal thing, but I'm just too petrified after realising how fragile life really is. Suppose I'm on a mission to minimise my risks. Another friend of mine was attacked in Irene / Lyttleton area in December (Same place where the other attacks have been happening). So yes you aren't completely safe whether you're on the road or off. As I said, for me it's a personal thing and I just won't feel comfortable on the road anymore. That's all. And yes Fandaliscious you're right, I load the bike on my awesome new Thule bike rack!
  13. [ but they were also on mountain bikes? True, but they were riding home (on the road). What I meant was that I'm not prepared to risk my life as a roadie any longer. It's all trail riding for me from now on.
  14. 37 next month, but I always remind myself that "You're only as old as the woman you feel". So that means I'm 34.
  15. Hi all, Just thought I'd bring the following to your attention. On Saturday 17th a freind of mine (Maeson) and another cyclist where riding home along Botha avenue after enjoying a training session in the Groenkloof Nature Reserve. A woman in a large truck (F250 or similar) aparently swerved of another vehicle and slammed into the back of the riders at an excessive speed. Maeson has broken his back in two places but thank the good lord his spinal column is not damaged. He'll be out of action for a good couple of months. The other rider apparently hit the armco face first and is having to undergo reconstructive surgery. I haven't yet been to see him in Unitas but will keep their progress updated on this topic. Anyone want to buy my road bike? From now on I stay off the road and only in safe (hopefully) areas. My Cannondale caad5 will be in the classifieds shortly. Regards, Steve
